BLOCKS PTO meeting notes 9/12/2023

Overall Updates:

Great start to the school year! We have some spots to fill on our board and hope to get that settled as soon as possible. If interested please email @ blocksptoparents@gmail.com.

Upcoming Reminders:

9/19 early release

9/22 Theme Day-Sports Day!

9/25 no school-Yom Kippur

10/10 Next PTO meeting

Principal’s Update:

• A total of 273 students registered between both campuses (Juniper Hill and HS)

• Apple Field trip-not happening this year due to crops and bussing issues

• Classroom teachers are working with PTO to find a PTO Liaison for each classroom

• Upcoming Pride night-10/24 or 10/26. Two nights this year for easier parking. Teachers will send out specific nights in the next few weeks.

• Hoping to get funds to support 1 pumpkin per room in the next month to support Literacy & Science activities eg. Life Cycle of the pumpkin and the literacy connection to the pumpkin walk

• Pre K expansion Strategic Plan goal to have all 4 year olds in Framingham come to school for universal pre k

• 3 Initiatives-Office of Teaching and Learning are working towards

1. Strength and Standard base instruction- SEB Pre-K, Monthly character traits (SMORES-responsibility of September), Screening Tool Ages and Stages As Bridge relationshipbetween home and school
2. Wrap Around Program Deeping relations to benefit all students-Pre-K wrap aroundcoordinator (clothing, housing, all needs)
3. Create and expand opportunities-includes universal pre kindergarten

Treasurers’ update:

• Hoping to raise $10,000 to keep fun activities going: Fun and Learning Day, Literacy and Science activities, Teacher Appreciation week, etc.

Fundraising:

• Hoping to continue with the Pizzeria Unos night

• Selling BLOCKS merchandise at Pride Night-need volunteers to help set up, sell and break down (around 60 min total).

• We need volunteers for fundraising.

• Potential new ideas put out there: Danceathon or Fun-run
