HOA Happenings
November 1, 2023
for all K-12 families at Hillsboro Online Academy
Principal's Message
Hello HOA families! It is so hard to believe that we are only a week away from the first quarter of the school year being done. Time is flying so quickly. So many great things have been happening at HOA for our students at all grade levels. Our kindergarten through sixth graders have been having so much fun playing cooperative games in PE, learning to play the ukulele in music class, and finding out what happens when chlorophyll comes out of leaves in the fall. Our middle school students have been learning about architecture, building structures and using microscopes to study the parts of leaves during their STEM time, as well as having their first group social with pizza and lots of fun! Finally, our high school students have been using drop-in times to work with their teachers one-on-one a few times a week, and painted pumpkins at their monthly social.
Coming up this month is the end of the quarter with no school on November 9th, so that our teachers can finish grading and prepare for quarter two. We also have family conferences being held on November 20th and 21st where families will be invited to sign up for individual times to meet with your HOA teachers. We are looking forward to sharing with you all the progress your child has made so far, and this is a great time to ask any questions you might have.
Working together we will continue to have a successful year.
Sincerely,
Shannon Freudenthal
K-12 Administrator, HOA
Teachers are sending emails to families to sign up for conferences on November 20 & 21. Parents can choose their time in ParentVUE.
If you need help logging in to ParentVUE - please call our offices & Karen or Kristina can help!
Students in K-1 read The Dot by Peter Reynolds. We started an art installation on our Tamarack site.
All HOA students and family members are welcome to choose a color and paint a watercolor spot too. Send your spot to either HOA office and they will find their way to Mrs. Maher. (Let us know if you’d like to borrow some watercolors for this project.
