As we get into our colder months, I am once again asking parents/guardians to assist us in trying to maintain the learning environment. We are noticing students wearing blankets to school. It is difficult for students to focus and work effectively when they are wrapped up in blankets. Please ensure your child understands these expectations and wears an appropriate coat, jacket, or hoodie to school. Additionally, students are again attempting to wear onesies to school - complete with unicorn horns, cow tails, and antlers. These obviously are a distraction to the learning environment and cannot be worn. Students have been reminded of these expectations but reinforcement at home would be appreciated. Thank you.

The 6th Grade Dance held on 11/18 was a great success and the kids had a blast. Thank you to our volunteers (Jessica Howard, Caren Grubb Drinkard, Megan Hildenberge, Christina Gebhardt, April Russell, Dominic McDonald, Katherine Hempling, Crystal Baker, Rebecca Burnett and Grace) as well as the teachers and staff who helped make the dance a success.

Here is the perfect stocking stuffer or secret Santa gift. Don't forget your postal worker, hairdresser, teachers, etc this holiday season. $10 Pizza Hotline Gift Cards are available from the PTSO. If you are interested in purchasing, please send in the attached form.

There are exciting things coming in December. Here is a sneak peak:

- Holiday Shop for students to purchase items for family and friends with their "Paw Prints". If you have any new (or like new) items laying around and are willing to donate to the school rather than take it to the thrift store, please let us know.

- Holiday Bazaar scheduled for Dec 10th.

If you would like to become a member, please email us your child's name and homeroom teacher. We will send a form home with your child.

Just in time for the holidays! The 6th grade team is excited to announce the return of our t-shirt fundraiser. T-shirts AND Hoodies are available for all students. Proceeds will benefit the 6th grade team and end of year activities. You may choose to have t-shirts/hoodies shipped directly to your place of residence or to the school. The school order is projected to arrive December 15th, right before the winter break.

Hoodies are $37 and T-Shirts are $25

Looking for the perfect gifts for the holiday? The 6th grade team is excited to announce that they will be hosting the 2022 Holiday Bazaar on Saturday December 10, 2022! Doors will open at 9:00am and the event will run until 2:00pm.

Vendors interested in the event should contact Mrs. Kamp with any questions. Attached you will find the Vendor Registration Form. We are accepting cash and check payments. Checks should be made payable to Margaret Brent Middle School. A receipt will be provided for you the day of the event.

2022-2023 Yearbook Ad (Student Recognition Ad)

Student Recognition Ads are available to purchase and are a great surprise to students when they receive their yearbook. A Student Recognition Ad comes with a picture of your child and a message from you! A $10 Silver Ad donation includes a picture and a message of up to 20 words. A $20 Gold Ad donation includes a picture and a message of up to 40 words. Once an ad is purchased, you will receive an email from Mrs. Kamp asking you for your message and picture.

Adventure Awaits Themed Yearbook

Our yearbook theme focuses on adventure and features the many adventures one can have in St. Mary's County. Our cover will showcase St. Mary's City and the beauty our county offers. The yearbook adviser, Mrs. Kamp, is looking for pictures of your child/family adventuring in St. Mary's County. She is looking for pictures that showcase the many wonderful events and fun being had locally. Pictures should include the students name and grade level. Pictures can also be landscapes of places in St. Mary's County. Please email your pictures to jmkamp@smcps.org
