Meet the Principal

August 1, 2022
Callahan families,
I hope you are having a restful summer! I am very excited to be a part of the amazing Callahan community! I started at the Callahan on July 1 and have been spending the past month getting to know the school, staff, students, families, and the Norwood school district. I cannot wait to meet and learn more about all of you!
A bit about me
I am originally from Hong Kong, China. I moved to the United States when I was 13. I currently live in Dedham with my husband, my one-year-old son, and a big two-year-old German Shepherd Dog. We love spending time together in our backyard chasing one another, lounging by the fire pit, swinging on the hammock, and having family dinners on the patio. We also enjoy hiking and splashing water at the beach. Other than spending time with my family, I love to cook because I really like to eat!
Professionally, I was a fourth grade teacher and teacher-in-charge for seven years. Then, I was an assistant principal for a total of nine years. During the 2021-2022 school year, I returned from maternity leave in October and became the Interim Principal where I was the assistant principal. I hold undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate degrees from the University of Connecticut and Quinnipiac University. I will soon receive my doctoral degree in Urban Leadership in Education from the Johns Hopkins University.
What I value
Build strong and trusting relationships with ALL staff, students, and families
Collaborate to increase teacher capacity and cultivate teacher leaders
Strong and consistent two-way communication with ALL stakeholders
Family engagement that reaches ALL members of the community
Equity awareness and culturally responsive practices
I look forward to connecting and working with all of you. Please do not hesitate to contact me. Have a wonderful and restful summer!
Sincerely,
Scarlett Grandt
