"One Stampede, The Kingdom Way"
This Week
Stampede family,
Welcome to another edition of our weekly newsletter. We're excited to keep you informed about our school's latest updates and activities. As we begin day 23 of this academic year, we'd like to thank you for your continued support. Progress and attendance reports were sent home Friday. Contact your child's teacher if you have questions or concerns about their grades and Secretary Jackson at the main office if your child has been marked absent on a day they were indeed on campus. Simply note this on the attendance profile document and send it to our secretary. Let us know if we can help in any way.
Thanks,
Eric F. Hines,
Principal
Core Values
Our core values represent who we are as a school and our commitment to growing strong, well-rounded leaders inside the classrooms and throughout our communities. We will do all things with excellence and strive towards exhibiting our values and mission each and every day...The Kingdom Way!
Shout Outs
Congratulations to our Volleyball Teams for a hard fought victory over Huffman High School on Thursday Night. Also, kudos to Tristan Simmons for being named Character Student of the Month by TCS and Townsquare Media and Myles Madden, Alabama One Credit Union Athlete of the Week. Our band, cheer and JROTC Teams were exceptional at Friday's Football game and although we did not win, Stampede Football showed tremendous improvement. Thanks to Ms. Cook, Ms. Waddell, Mrs. Crawford, Mr. Reed and our entire faculty and staff for a spirited pep rally and for wearing Stampede apparel on Friday. What a wonderful job PTSA did in conjunction with Coach McKenzie on getting our football team out to greet everyone. School spirit is definitely building and we will continue to provide meaningful avenues to display our love and support for PWBHS.
On our Wednesday, September 6th Instructional Walkthrough, a significant bragging point of improved school culture was noted by our Central Support Team. Great things are happening at PWBHS and we are excited that you are working collaboratively with us. Points of emphasis are listed below:
1. Shift in positive school culture
2. Students are speaking and greeting visitors in the building
3. Students are eager to learn
4. Respectful relationships between teachers and students
Attendance
Along with Progress Reports that were sent Friday, students received attendance profiles, which detail every absence for this academic year. Take a moment and look at absences that are listed. If you detect an error, please make a note on the document and send it back to our Secretary, Shalynn Jackson and we will make the corrections we are able to verify. In addition, from the Week of August 28th to the Week of September 4th, our attendance increased from 92.16% to 93.64%, a whopping 1.48%. Help us continue this upward trend in positive attendance by making sure your child, whether a bus rider, car rider or student driver, makes it in the building by 8:20 am. Note the attendance week poster attached below. Thursday is Pajama Day, we trust that each child will dress appropriately. Help us by monitoring what your child wears not only on Thursday but every day.

Progress Reports
All students received a progress report on Friday, September 8, 2023. Please look at each class and contact the teacher if you have questions. Don't wait until they reach out to you, contact them as soon as possible. In 4 1/2 Weeks, students will receive report cards. Therefore, it is important that improvements needing to be made be done now.

Your voice is needed to shape the future of TCS!
The Tuscaloosa City Schools are hosting a series of community input sessions on Sept. 11, 13 and 14. We want our TCS families, as well as any Tuscaloosa resident, to come and give us their thoughts on what we are doing well as a school system that we should continue to fund, as well as what would they like to see us do differently that requires financial commitment.
We are making plans for the next several years, and the input gathered at these sessions will help set our roadmap of priorities as a school system for the future. Again, the input gathered at these sessions are crucial to our future, and we want as many members of the public to attend as possible. Strong schools mean strong communities.
The input sessions are open to anyone, and it is not required that you attend only the one within your feeder zone. Choose any input session that fits your schedule.
