A Note from Principal, Mrs.Holmes
Rosebud students have been working hard and we are proud of the work we are doing to be in the TOP 5% of Title 1 Schools in the state of Georgia. This means, we have two consecutive years of growth, and we are making progress toward academic proficiency for all students. To continue this growth, we are asking that you read nightly to your child and ask questions after they read to see if they understand. If you have children that cannot read yet, read to them and ask if they can tell you the names of the main characters, where the story took place, and share what they believe the story is about. Students can also help in stores by making purchases with money and seeing if they get the correct change back or estimating the total cost of a purchase by rounding. Challenge them to use mental math to give you the total before the cashier provides the total.
I believe that it is important that the school and the community work together to achieve student success. I also believe in being transparent and letting you know where we struggle as a school based on our first district assessments. Although we outranked the school and district in many areas, we still need to make sure we continue to provide support around areas of need. I am sharing this google doc with you that will allow you to view our lowest performing standards. This is a great opportunity for you to ask questions about ways we can support those standards at home. Feel free to reach out to your teachers for resources.
We appreciate your support and love building the bridge from the school to the community! To continue those efforts, we encourage all parents to sign up for the PTA. I will be conducting a drawing that will provide a chance for PTA members to "shop with a first responder". Twenty-five families who have signed up for PTA will be placed in a drawing for a chance to win a $100 shopping spree.
Parents, you have until FRIDAY, November 3rd to sign up for PTA. I will do a live drawing on Zoom on THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 9TH AT 6:00 pm (PLEASE NOTE THE DAY HAS BEEN UPDATED).
Here is the Zoom link for the Target $100 give-a-way on November 9th at 6pm.
