We are trying something new for our Open House/ Curriculum Night here at JRB. We love the idea of our younger students taking the time to show parents/guardians around the room. On the other hand, the parents of our seasoned students tend to look forward to hearing more about what they will cover during the year. In order to try to fit both of these models, we have the following plan:

6:30- 7:00 PM-

• Grades K - 2 (The bottom floor) Students can show parents around their own classroom.
• Grades 3-5- Parents are asked to meet and mingle in the gym area. The specials teachers, PTA, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, SEPAC, and more will be available to chat with all around the gym.

7:00- 7:30 PM

• Grades K-2- Parents are asked to meet and mingle in the gym area. The specials teachers, PTA, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, SEPAC, and more will be available to chat with all around the gym.
• Grades 3-5- (Top Floor) Teachers will be presenting to parents/guardians about the upcoming year. We suggest that students from grades 3-5 do not attend the sit-down type of presentation.

Throughout the entire evening, special educators will be available in their own rooms. You are welcome to stop in and see those learning spaces if you desire.

Mr. Leander and Mr. North will try to be available in the hallways.

Finally, we plan to have some Peer Leaders from Oakmont to help out with those families that may be bringing a younger student to the school for the lower grades, and they making their way upstairs for a presentation. Again, this child care is for the students that are showing parents around the lower rooms (K-2).

You can find the district bus routes by clicking here. The times and bus route numbers are on each sheet. Students are required to have a mask on while riding the bus. Any questions about bus routes should be sent to bussing@awrsd.org. Please include your child’s full name, school and address in your inquiry.

As of the start of the school year and until further notice, we will not be allowing students to take the bus to a friend's house after school.

Chromebooks will be going home with our 3-5 students the week of September 7th, and will be distributed (but stay in school) to our K-2 students the week of September 13th. Please visit the AWRSD Family Tech Support website for more information, including a more detailed schedule and a copy of the paperwork that must be completed and returned for your child to receive a Chromebook.

AWRSD is fortunate to have a wonderful Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC) which we encourage families to be involved with if you are able to. Please refer to the attached flyer for more information.

Thanks to everyone who has become a member of the PTA this year, It was so good to see all the new faces at the first PTA meeting of the year! New members have some great ideas for the upcoming school year. We are looking forward to getting back to “normal” (fingers crossed) and host some great family-friendly events, in-person this year.
