60 SECONDS WITH THE SUPERINTENDENT
Transitioning to a new school can sometimes lead to feelings of nervousness and anxiety. Some of our new students arrive in our District during the year. But what happens when they arrive during the 4th quarter? 6th grade SMS student Juliette found herself in a brand new school a few months ago, and with the help of fellow 6th grade classmate Violet, other classmates, and our SMS teachers and staff, she has made a great transition. Click HERE for this week’s ‘60 Seconds’ episode, as we visit Strongsville Middle School and hear about the welcoming environment she has experienced.
SCS RESPONSIBLE RESTART COMPREHENSIVE GUIDE
Our District has created the SCS Responsible Restart Comprehensive Guide - one document in one location outlining our District’s policies and procedures. This document should be used as a guide, allowing you to quickly find answers to your questions. The guide can also be found at www.strongnet.org/restart.
As we have seen throughout the pandemic, factors can change on a daily basis and this Guide will remain adjustable and flexible to respond to state and local health guidelines.
SHS STUDENTS INVITE REPRESENTATIVE ANTHONY GONZALEZ TO CONNECT VIRTUALLY WITH THEIR CLASS
At the high school, Mr. Knapp's 2nd period Government class have been working in groups over the past few weeks on a Civic Action Project. His students have picked a current issue in America, then completed a task to have an effect on that issue, whether that be writing a letter to a government official, conducting a survey or petition, etc.
SHS students Blake Miller and Charlie Wendenhof decided to tackle the problem of Political Polarization in the United States. For their civic action, they contacted and set up an interview with State Representative Anthony Gonzalez. Blake and Charlie conducted the virtual interview in front of the entire class - well done!

MUSTANG SPOTLIGHT - MRS. LEANNE AMBROZIAK, GIFTED INTERVENTION SPECIALIST AT WHITNEY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Mrs. Leanne Ambroziak has been with Strongsville City Schools for six years. Mrs. Ambroziak has worked at Drake Elementary and is currently at Whitney Elementary, where she is the school’s Gifted Intervention Specialist. She grew up in Berea, but began her teaching career in Las Vegas, before moving back to Strongsville where, according to Mrs. Ambroziak, “feels like home to me - I’m exactly where I want to be!” Mrs. Ambroziak is a graduate of Kent State University and earned her graduate degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
“My students have a zest for learning, and I love being able to push them to think creatively, and be independent thinkers. I look forward to who they will be one day, and the mark they will make on the world. I love getting to ‘loop’ with my students for three years in a row. This allows me to build such great relationships with my students, and know what they can really do,” said Mrs. Ambroziak.
Thank you Mrs. Ambroziak for helping our Whitney Elementary students grow and develop, and providing them strong foundations for the academic expectations at SMS! #WeAreStrongsville
