Maire Newsletter: August 25, 2023
Dear Maire Families,
It has been a busy few weeks at Maire in preparation for the new school year quickly approaching. The staff are working very hard in their spaces to make all of our students and families feel welcomed and a part of this amazing community.
We are looking forward to seeing all of our Maire Bears and families on Thursday, August 31st for the optional Stop and Drop event at 3:45. Please make sure to visit the Maire PTO table to learn more about how to get involved within our school community.
See all of you next week!
Have a wonderful weekend,

Welcome Back to Maire Event!
All students and families are welcome to stop and drop off school supplies at your classroom/locker. From 3:45-5:30 pm you are invited to take a quick peek in the school, and drop off supplies. There will be Maire Leaders present to assist you in finding your child's classroom/locker. Please be mindful that our building will still be in the final stages of getting ready for your child's 1st day of school. We are excited to welcome you to Maire and help ease the transition to the first day of school. If you are not able to attend, you may drop off items to the office and we will deliver them to classrooms or we will see you September 5th at 8:20.
This is an optional event for families and staff.

1.) Do you love the Holidays? Is your Pinterest Board filled with Holiday craft ideas? Then, The Holiday Craft Fair and Market committee would be a great creative outlet for you. We are looking for someone to Chair this event and a team of elves to make the magic happen on Saturday, December 2, 2023. This Maire holiday tradition is a family favorite and just like Santa, we need to get planning early. Please contact mairewaysandmeans@gmail.com if you’re interested.

Michigan providing free breakfast and lunch for students in 2023-24
All students in Michigan public schools will be able to receive one breakfast and one lunch daily at no cost for the 2023-24 School Year.
Important things to know:
- Students must have three out of the five food groups for the meal to be free.
- There will still be a charge for milk only and ala carte purchases.
- Student accounts WILL NOT be allowed to go negative.
- Families who would qualify for free or reduced meals should still fill out an application online. You can log in to the K-12 preregistration forms to do so.
Stay on a lookout for our lunch volunteer sign up genius in the coming weeks. This will be found on the Maire Smore and Maire PTO Facebook page each week.
Lunch volunteering is 1 hour. Splitting your time between recess and the lunchroom.
This is a great way to see your children during the school day and meet other Maire students and parents!
