Falcon Flyer
Belong. Inspire. Grow.
Straight from the Hardt
Hello Ridgeline Families- I was reflecting with a colleague today about our journey to Ridgeline High School and it reaffirmed for me how important it is to try new things to push yourself and grow as a person. That is an important part of our Mission at Ridgeline. Belong. Inspire. Grow. I hope, as a parent, you’ve learned our mission statement by now :).
Parents and community are critical to our mission and I believe it’s important for all of us to know and understand what our high school is about. Some say growth happens with failure. Others say growth happens with success. I believe that it happens with both, it needs both—but you can’t stop at failure otherwise there is no growth. Pushing ourselves or our students to Grow can be hard and can even make us afraid—because, naturally, we don’t want to fail, right? Failure and mistakes hurt, it’s just the way it is. I bet many of you parents have had “growth” conversations with your kids this week. I raised two boys through teen years and can empathize with you having the “What were you thinking?!” conversation. Yes, I left out the expletives! That’s what I love about high school—we get to experience the best in our young people and walk beside them through the difficult times.
Speaking of growth opportunities… there have been a few accidents in the Ridgeline Parking lot and roads. This message is for students and parents. It’s like most situations, 90% are being cautious and doing the right thing and 10% are being reckless. Be a 90 per-cent-er! NO PARKING on any thoroughfares or in lots not intended for student pick-up/drop-off. With snow on the ground it has become especially important as streets are narrowing with snow berms.
I know many kids were bummed we cancelled the Sadie Hawkins dance. It was a combination of factors that led to low ticket sales, and ultimately our decision to call it off. I want to thank Sophomores Maddie S, Grace S, and any others who put in work to put this event together. We had deadlines to notify the DJ and such and the snow day didn’t help. You can imagine I heard from many kids that were planning on going and just hadn’t got around to buying a ticket yet.
Please take a look at important dates, events, and lots more in today’s Flyer. Make it a great weekend! –Mr. Hardt
Student Services
Hello caregivers, parents, and guardians! I’d like to formally introduce myself, my name is Carrie McGlohon and I am the new counseling substitute. I will be managing the 10th grade class (class of 2025) in Mrs. Ashley fuller’s absence. I am very excited to be a part of the Ridgeline crew!
Each day I am reminded of my "why" (why I do this work and why I love it). Every student needs connection. As a school counselor, I am able to connect to many students each day, in ways that are not purely academic. I believe everyone needs a little bit of guidance and support, and my work as a school counselor has shown me the impact I have on them.
A little about me: I am originally from sunny Los Angeles, but went to Juniata College in Pennsylvania for my undergraduate. I graduated summa cum laude with my BS in Psychology with a minor in Education, and from here, moved up to Spokane. I am currently attending Gonzaga University’s Counselor Education Program, and graduate in May with my MA in School Counseling. My previous experience has been at Lewis & Clark HS with the entire special education population. From there, I went to Shadle Park HS, working with the 9th grade class. I am pumped to be here!
I want to attempt to make this transition go as smoothly as possible. I have an amazing support system here with me in the counseling and administrative offices, but if there is anything you feel I need to know about your student(s) or anything I can help support you in, please do not hesitate to reach out.

On Thursday, our freshmen leadership classes participated in a lesson on Shaping and Managing Time led by our awesome Falcon Link Crew Leaders. This was our leaders' chance to share with our freshmen the challenges they face when trying to balance all the responsibilities they have , and provide them with strategies and tools to help them focus their time into areas that will help them achieve their goals. Great work, Leaders, and thank you Class of 2026 and leadership teachers for having us.
