"Start With Hello" Week at Hillendale
I’m excited to share that during the week of September 18th, Hillendale students and staff will participate in our annual “Start With Hello” week as a way of promoting a welcoming spirit and inclusivity throughout our school.
A few highlights from our week ahead include:
- Hillendale staff will be joined by local and state police and fire to welcome students “with hello” at our bus and parent drop-off locations each morning to positively connect students with law enforcement.
- Name tags for all students and staff to help our school community learn each other’s names on Monday, September 18th.
- An invitation for all students and staff to wear green on Wednesday, September 20th, as the color of inclusion and “saying hello!”
- “Say Hello” lunch on Friday, September 22nd, where students will be able to sit and connect with peers from other homerooms they wouldn’t typically get to eat lunch with.
- A buddy craft connecting older and younger huskies to help students get to know one another across grade levels.
- Whole school read aloud activities during morning announcements on HETV featuring beloved Hillendale staff members reading picture books that emphasize connectedness and a welcoming spirit.
- A buddy activity where our students will help one another make a brief recording of themselves pronouncing their names correctly to help us best address one another as students and staff!
We hope your children enjoy this special week!
New Staff at Hillendale
"Hello" to all our new staff at Hillendale this school year!
Standard Response Protocol & Emergency Preparedness
Throughout the beginning of the school year you may have heard the term "Secure" used several times to describe our district's status as it relates to emergency preparedness. Last school year, UCF adopted the Standard Response Protocol in all our schools. Staff have been trained and continue to learn more about SRP as it relates to best practices across age levels. Attached is a parent guide to SRP. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions you might have. Thank you!
