MCES WEEKLY TOP FIVE FOR PARENTS
UPDATES FOR THE WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 27
A Message from The Administration Team
Greetings to our Montclair Families, and thank you all for your support and assistance as we end another week at Montclair Elementary. We want to take this time to thank our parents who logged on yesterday to join us for our annual Montclair Elementary School Curriculum Night. Many of our families were able to speak to their child's teacher about the curriculum that would be taught this school year and were provided with various resources on how parents can support their children. If you attended the event, please be sure that you have signed in. If you have signed in, you will be entered in a drawing for a prize. Additionally, Mrs. Powell attached to the Curriculum Night Document information about Title I for parents.
Please make sure you check this information as it is essential information. Thanks to federal funding, Cumberland County Schools (C.C.S.) is launching free COVID-19 testing to help keep students and employees safe. The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services' partnership with MAKO, a COVID-19 testing company, offers free rapid testing to students and employees at each school site for quick COVID-19 diagnoses. The minimally invasive rapid antigen testing helps prevent in-school transmission while minimizing the loss of face-to-face learning time. Each school site will provide this free COVID-19 testing, but it is not required. Parents and guardians of C.C.S. students and employees who wish to take advantage of this convenient testing must complete the registration below linked to the C.C.S. website. Additionally, parents, please be reminded that if your child has any symptoms related to Covid 19, please keep your student at home until a physician checks them out. If the students are displaying any of the following: Fever or chills, Cough, Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, Fatigue, Muscle or body aches, Headache, New loss of taste or smell, Sore throat, Congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, or Diarrhea they must remain at home.
Cumberland County has begun assessing students using the BIMAS system. The Behavior Intervention Monitoring and Assessment System2 (BIMAS2) is a brief and repeatable online measure developed and standardized for universal screening and progress monitoring with school-aged youth.BIMAS screener will be done K-5 by classroom teachers based on a schedule provided. Parents who wish to opt-out have the option to do so.
Lastly, The Positive Behavior Intervention Support Team will recognize our "Mustangs of the Month" for September. Each teacher will select a student that exemplifies one of our school's character traits and P.R.I.D.E. With parents' permission; these students will be recognized in the Parent Top Five for the week of September and our social media platforms. Parents who have not completed the Permission of Photographer or Videography will need to provide written consent for us to showcase your child for M. O.T.M.
Thank you so much for your time as we look forward to a year and rebuilding, refocusing, and reassuring all stakeholders on being Montclair Strong. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns for administrators, please feel free to email us, use Classdojo or contact us in our Facebook group.
