Wednesday November 17, 2021 Mono County Public Health Vaccination Clinic
The Mono County Health Department would like to help you protect your child against the Covid-19 virus. Recently, the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 Vaccine was approved for 5–11-year-olds. The Health Department will provide the vaccine for students at the school next Wednesday. This is a voluntary clinic to increase your family’s access to this vaccine. We will have a supportive positive environment to try to alleviate fears the students may have. You can assist by discussing the clinic with your child in an encouraging and positive way reminding them that this will help them be able to stay in school in a safer way. We will be giving Beanie Babies and other small incentives to provide comfort. If your child is too fearful at the clinic, we will not force them to have the vaccine and will provide a notice to you so an appointment can be set up at the Health Department. All students who receive the vaccine will get a white vaccine card with our stamp and be entered into the CAIR immunization registry.
The vaccine requires a second dose about 3 weeks after the first. We will set up the second dose clinic at the school. Your consent for the clinic on the 17th will also provide consent for the second dose unless you notify us.
We will be at Mammoth Elementary School on Wednesday November 17th from 8:30-10:30.
To give your consent to have your student vaccinated please choose one of the following options: you can register your student on-line at the following link or you can complete the paper consent form included with this letter and return it to the school on the day of the clinic or before.

For more information on the vaccine, a Fact Sheet for the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 Vaccine is available at this link, https://www.fda.gov/media/153717/download or ask for a copy at the school office.
If you have additional questions about the Covid vaccination clinic, please contact us at Mono County Public Health (760) 924-1818 or your healthcare provider.
Only those students with signed permission slips will be administered the vaccination. Parents do NOT need to be present, but DO need to sign for permission.
Attendance Hotline
MUSD Illness Protocols and Attendance
Please remember that if your child is ill, they should remain home from school. Please do not send your student to school if they have symptoms. Once your student has had no fever in the last 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medications, there are three options to return to school. Your student may get a medical note clearing him/her to return safely to school. OR You can provide documentation of a negative COVID test OR, lastly, your student may remain out of school for 10 days since symptom onset.
Mono County Public Health weekly Covid-19 testing from 1:45-3:45 at MHS is available every Tuesday 1:45-3:45 at MHS.
*COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Testing for MUSD at Mammoth Hospital*
You can take your students who may be having Covid-19 like symptoms to get a free rapid test BEFORE bringing them to school.
Testing will be offered Monday-Friday from 7:00am-9:00am. Testing will be closed on holidays and weekends. Rapid tests are for symptomatic people only.
Instructions for rapid testing:
Students will present to the laboratory swabbing area that will be outside in the parking lot. Follow the pre-procedure signage to the Scheduled School Testing Parking spots.
Students will stay in their vehicle and call the phone number on the signage for the Lab swabbing room to alert Lab staff to presence.
The Lab swabber will come out and have the student or parent write students name, phone number, grade and/or teacher on a blank pass.
Upon completion of the test lab staff will stamp it with a Mammoth Hospital Laboratory stamp. The student will receive a completed pass only if the test result comes back negative. The swabber will swab the student and tell them to wait in their car for the results (approx. 15 minutes). Once the result has been determined as negative, a pass will be issued to the student to return to school.
If the result comes back positive, the student will be told to return home and they will be contacted by Mono County Public Health.
