CCMS Parent Resource Room
The goal of the Parent Resource Room is to provide resources and supplies to assist parents in their child's education. Each year, we purchase items for our Parent Resource Room (located in the Media Center). We have a computer, printer, basic supplies (pens, pencils, paper), math manipulatives, English/Spanish books, translation pens, parenting books, family brochures, and laptops parents can use while on campus. Most of the materials are available for check out and home use.
The Parent Resource Room is located in the CCMS Media center. It is open during the school day (7:30-3:15) and before/after parent meetings, conferences, or events. Please check out the resources available for CCMS parents and students.

ATTENDANCE REMINDERS
Attendance MATTERS!
Did you know that a student who misses just two days a month, is actually absent for 10% of the school year? Kids can't learn when they are not in school. That's why it is so important for children to show up every day.
The beginning of the school year is also when the state collects our attendance data. The number of students attending school is directly tied to next year's funding. We need an accurate count to ensure adequate resources. Parents, please partner with us! We need students on time, all day, every day.

Volunteer Program at McWane Science Center
The Summer Teen Program provides an opportunity for service-focused students to showcase their passion for science. Participants will have the chance to lead hands-on science demonstrations, assist in summer camps, and interpret McWane exhibits, contributing to our goal of making STEM accessible for our community. They play a vital role in fulfilling our mission by sparking wonder and curiosity about our world.
In this program, volunteers at McWane gain valuable leadership skills in a dynamic, hands-on environment while honing their public speaking skills and developing a strong work ethic. Emphasizing professional development, this unique opportunity allows students to see how STEM applies to everyday situations.
If you know students interested in improving their communication skills, working collaboratively in a team, and exploring their STEM-related interests, I encourage you to share this opportunity with them. To apply, candidates must submit an online application along with a resume and two letters of recommendation. All new candidates will participate in an interview after applying. The application deadline is April 1, 2024.
For more details about the program and the application process, please refer to the attached FAQ sheet or visit our website: https://mcwane.org/volunteer/#summer
