A Reminder About October 31st
This October, the district is moving away from Halloween-related celebrations and transitioning into having fun through spirit days and other activities not related to Halloween. Several schools are planning activities that include dress up days and other activities not specifically tied to Halloween, and some classrooms might choose to have "fall" celebrations.
You can revisit the related message from the school district in this past Family News Letter by clicking HERE
Holiday Craft Fair is One Week Away
The 28th annual Holiday Craft Fair is next Saturday, Nov. 4., in the gym at Mariner High School. The doors open at 10 a.m. and close at 4 p.m. The craft fair is a great way to jump-start your holiday shopping. Come early for the best selections. Proceeds benefit Mukilteo School District high school senior scholarships. Hope to see you there!

Honoring those who served!
We are excited to announce our all-school assembly celebrating Veterans Day on Thursday, November 9th @ 1:30 to honor those who have served or are currently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces.
If you would like us to recognize someone you know who has served during this special assembly (in person or not), please fill out this form Veteran's Day Information Form by November 3rd.
If your veteran is not able to attend, please email the information, along with a picture, to Ms. Lang via ParentSquare or to the front office.
At the assembly, we will have your student introduce their special Veteran.
Here is a sample of the script.
"My name is (Student Name). I would like to introduce my (Relationship and Veteran's name) He/she served in the (Branch of service) for (Number) of years."
Read A Thon Update
Thank you to everyone who participated in our Read-A-Thon! As a school we met our reading goal, our students read 188,908 minutes! Prizes will continue to be distributed in the classroom over the next few weeks! We have raised 91% of our goal funds ($27,391.50). Please remember, it's not too late to apply for corporate matching if you can!
Upcoming PTA Events and Volunteer Opportunities
Mark your calendars! Columbia PTA has several fun activities lined up this fall! Please visit the Columbia PTA website for details on each event. We are also in need of many volunteers to make these events run smoothly. Please consider signing up, it's a great opportunity to meet other Columbia Families and get to know our students and staff!
Brrrrrrr It's Getting Cold Outside!
Warm coats with hoods, gloves and boots are all good ideas this time of year. It just isn't as much fun to play at recess when you are cold or wet and our students love to be outside!! The Pacific Northwest is crisp and clear but sometimes wet and frosty this time of year so please plan accordingly when heading out the door for school.

Attendance Matters!
Attendance matters for all of us at Columbia Elementary, and we need your help!
If you need to report an absence, tardy or early dismissal, call our 24 hour attendance line at 425-366-2605 or email us!
Please note that teachers do not always have the opportunity to inform the office that your child is going to be absent. Please include office staff on all attendance emails to teachers.
- Early Pick-Up
If your child will be leaving early for the day, families/guardians will need to send a note, email the teacher or call the office on the main line at 425-366-2600. (Avoid calling between 8:45-9:15 AM)
Please do not leave a message on the attendance line. Please avoid picking up during their scheduled lunch, recess or time with specialists, as it may take extra time to retrieve your student.
Only an authorized person may take a child from school. Any student being dismissed prior to the regular dismissal time must be met in the office and the student must be signed out by the parent/guardian or authorized person picking them up.
- Pre-Arranged Absence
Any absence not specifically covered, such as family vacations or other extended absence, must have a Principal approved pre-arranged absence form in order to be excused. This form must be completed and submitted to the school office one week prior to the scheduled absence.
