Happy Memorial Day!
Dear Atholton Families,
Happy Memorial Day! On this Memorial Day, thank you for taking a moment to honor and remember our servicemen and servicewomen who answered America's call to service and paid the ultimate price.
What an exciting week this past week. Seniors completed their last day of high school (congratulations!) and caps and gowns were distributed. It was so nice watching our seniors arrive at our collection and distribution event to drop off their textbooks and collect their caps and gowns. Our staff REALLY got into the celebration (especially station 4 where you dropped off your textbooks, LOL!). Some students elected to film their video at the school while the majority of you chose to film on your own. I must say, as I began to review your videos, I was impressed with some of your backgrounds -- from the lake in Columbia to beautiful gardens in your backyards. Thank you for uploading your videos so quickly.
Just an important reminder to our senior families:
Graduation Video Uploads MUST be done before 12 p.m. (NOON), TOMORROW (Tuesday, May 26). Any senior who fails to upload a video will have their senior picture shown in lieu of a video. If you elect to not participate, you must log on to the website and choose the opt-out option.
Here is the information (it is also below as an attachment with complete instructions):
Website to submit and opt out is the same:

Diplomas for seniors will arrive this week! We are planning for a final collection and distribution on Monday, June 1. No diplomas will be given to students who have an outstanding obligation. More information will be sent to senior families regarding the specifics of the diploma distribution. It will be very similar to what we did on Friday.
I am always delighted to share great news with you regarding our students. The Atholton Debate Team has two distinguished honors. Chera Yoon ended the season in first place for Student Congress and Nastasja Santrac was a metro qualifier. Congratulations Chera and Nastasja! The accolades continue as Yara Ayache was recognized as the MESA (Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement) Student of the Year for Atholton High School. Congratulations Yara!
Schools are closed today in observance of Memorial Day. The following adjustments have been made to the distance learning schedules to accommodate this school closure:
The Period 4A Google Meet class check-in that is regularly scheduled for Monday afternoons will move to Friday May 29, 2020 from 8:00-8:45 or 9:00-9:45 a.m.
All class assignments will be posted by 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26, 2020.
Assignments normally due on Friday (May 29) will not be due until Monday, June 1, 2020 at 10:00 a.m.
The regular distance learning weekly schedule will resume June 1, 2020.
I hope you are enjoying your holiday and the beautiful weather. Senior families stay tuned for more information on diploma distribution next Monday.
Stay healthy and safe!
Warmly,
