Bluejay Athletics
Weekly Update 11/07/2022
From the Athletic Director
Hello Bluejay Nation!
This past week we saw a season end and a season extended. Our Volleyball team traveled to Meeker for a tough Regional competition where only one of three teams moves on to the State Championships. Our girls battled but fell short against a tough Meeker team and had their season come to an end. I am so proud of this group of girls though as they have put Mancos Volleyball back on the map. Our Football team after ending up as the 3rd seed hosted their opening playoff game against Swink. The game started off exciting with a fumbled kickoff by Swink that Mancos recovered and stayed exciting until the very end. Our boys will again host the Quarter Final game this Saturday against a talented team from Lyons that is sure to be a great battle.
In the NFL and Collegiate football you hear of teams that have the 12th man. This is talking about the difference a home crowd can make in big games. When the crowd is loud and “in the game” encouraging and cheering for their team it’s like having an extra player on the field. In Mancos we play 8 man football so what I would really like to see Saturday is for our “9th Man” to show up and make a difference. Let’s fill our stadium and be loud and encouraging for our team so that our Boy’s feel like we have an extra player on the field. Let’s show up and be a part of this exciting playoff run for our students and coaches.
GO JAYS!
