Greeting SELC PK Families,

SELC practiced a lockdown drill this morning. This was simply routine and part of our safety plan. I have to brag because our EAGLETS did a phenomenal job! It was quick, efficient, and done with fidelity!

A FEW REMINDERS:

• No School January 15th in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day

• Classrooms will continue to play outside with warmer winter temps. Please pack weather appropriate clothing!

• Early Release on January 24th

Head Start full day: dismissal at 12:30

Integrated Pre-K: AM classes only, no PM classes

PK STEAM Academy: dismissal at 12:30

In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, SELC students focused on the vocabulary terms cooperation, acceptance, peace, and caring. They discussed what that looks like in their classrooms. Students made promises to do their part to follow Dr. King's wish, drew their promises on leaves, and added them to classroom peace trees! They learned Martin Luther King, Jr. was a man who is a hero to many. He worked hard for peace--ALL people getting along and being treated the same regardless of the color of his skin. In our Speech rooms, students learned the impact of words and practiced sharing kindness with their peers.

As part of our ongoing commitment to fostering innovation and interactive learning experiences, we will be sending a weekly iPad activity designed to combine technology with family bonding.
