Happy Friday Raptor Families,

What a full week of activities between athletics and music concerts. It is wonderful to see our students engaged in our school community. We have a few events that will take place next week before we head into the Thanksgiving break.

Our Boy's Basketball team has their final game tomorrow, November 11th, at Aspen Ridge at 10:00 am. On November 13th, Girls Basketball practices will begin. Finally, on November 14th we will have our Mariachi and Orchestra Concert at 6:00 pm in the auditorium.

Next week, as we head towards Thanksgiving Break, please encourage your students to stay the course and to continue to focus on learning. It is important that we make each day count. Please also remind your students to make sure to continue to dress in layers as we are now experiencing cooler weather.

Many of us have adorable, fun loving pets that we want to share with everyone, but for the safety of ALL our students, we ask that you keep your pet at home. While we all have the best intentions, we need to do our best to keep students safe. We appreciate your understanding.

Hello TVK8 Families! Thank you for all of your support for our first fundraiser. As we prepare for the Addams Family we have a need to clean out and organize our current storage/prop/costume/set design area. It's been years since this area has been cleaned out and we're in need of some assistance.

Families are invited to help on Saturday 11/11 from 10 am - 2 pm. Please fill out the link as lunch will be provided. This is a great way for high schoolers to earn any service hours!

The Lost and Found is filling up. If your student is missing a jacket, water bottle, or lunch box, please have them check. The Lost and Found is located outside of the main gym. All items left will be donated on November 17th.

The Santa Cops form is now online. Please use the link provided below. The deadline for Santa Cops Referral Form will be Friday, November 17th, 2023. Late or incomplete referrals will not be accepted.

Kindergarten Registration

Children who will be five years old by October 1, 2024 will be eligible for

Kindergarten in the fall. Registration will start on December 1, 2023. Registration

will be online at the district’s website: www.svvsd.org. Please use the tab that

says, “Parents and Students”. You will find Enrollment and Registration under

General Information. This is for families that live in the Thunder Valley K8

attendance area. If you do not live in our area, but wish to attend Thunder Valley

K8, please complete an Open Enrollment form online for the 23-24 school year.

This will put your student in consideration for Open Enrollment, but does NOT

register the student.

The following information is required to be scanned in at the time the registration

form is filled out:

*Birth Certificate

*Current Immunization Records

*Proof of Residency

Students entering kindergarten must be fully immunized according to Colorado

State Law.

The following immunizations are required to enter Kindergarten:

*5 DPT shots

*4 Polio shots

*2 MMR, which should be given to child at 12 months or older

*3 Hepatitis B shots

*2 Varicella

Celebrate your child’s FIRST QUARTER birthday by joining the Birthday Book Club and donating a book to the school library in their name! Each child who participates will have their name inscribed on a bookplate on the front endpaper of the donated book. We will take a picture of the birthday child holding their donated book and they will get the first chance to check it out. Please write your email address on the line below so we can share the photo with you!

To better serve families and to support a more timely student preschool placement, St. Vrain’s Department of Early Childhood Education is offering families the opportunity to complete the district’s online pre-registration process prior to the state’s Universal Preschool (UPK) application. Families that pre-register in December will receive a notification of their placement from St. Vrain Valley Schools by the end of January, 2024. Pre-registered families will receive ongoing support and communication from St. Vrain Valley Schools if they choose to navigate the UPK process.

The open enrollment window for the 2024-2025 school year is from December 1, 2023 through December 15, 2023. Open enrollment is for families that live outside the attendance area of the school you wish to enroll your student into. If you submit a registration before December 1st, it will show up as a request to register for the current school year, not for next year. This will result in families having to register a second time for the next school year. This link will provide you with a step-by-step guide of what to expect if you plan to open enroll your student(s).

Parents/guardians shall be required to furnish an explanation for student absenteeism either in writing or orally. Absences not explained within two days after returning to school shall be recorded as unexcused absences unless unusual or extenuating circumstances exist as determined by the building administrator. After 10 excused or unexcused absences a doctors note is required. Communication is key to successful attendance.
