Lions Park Paw Prints
Letter from the Principal
Dear Lions Park Families,
It was fun to see the students so excited about picture day! I love watching them all come to school wearing things they love. We will have picture retakes on December 2nd for anyone who was not able to get their picture taken this week.
Lions Park classrooms have been having weekly or more frequent class meetings for several years. This year we are incorporating community building circles in every classroom as part of the class meeting time. All students will be part of a community building circle at least five times during the school year. Students will be arranged in a circle and various questions will be asked. Students will go around the circle and respond. These circles ensure equity of voice by making sure every student has an opportunity to talk. In this way, students will learn more about all of their classmates and be able to share more about themselves with their classmates.
We will be celebrating Halloween on October 29th at Lions Park. We will be celebrating with a parade for all at 1:30pm and parties following the parade. All parents are welcome to attend the parade, but the parties are only for students and the room parents who planned the parties. Costumes are only to be worn in the afternoon. Please make sure to complete the form at this link by October 27th at 3pm. Doing this will ensure a quicker dismissal for your child. More details can be found below.
Our parent and teacher conferences are quickly approaching on November 10th, 16th and 18th. If you have not already done so, please sign up at this link. Conferences can be either in person or on Zoom. Please email the teacher if you want to hold your conference on Zoom. Homeroom teachers will only be able to meet with the parents of those students assigned to their homeroom. If any grade level switching happens, the teachers will share notes for the homeroom teacher to report. If you have particular questions for these teachers, you can reach out at any time. We look forward to this opportunity to discuss your child's growth.
As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.
Warmly,
Katie Kelly
Principal

DATES TO REMEMBER
Tuesday, October 26 - Ed Foundation Meeting, 7 p.m. @ FV
Friday, October 29 - Halloween Parade, 1:30 p.m.
Halloween at Lions Park
On Friday, October 29th, we will be having a Halloween Parade (outdoors and weather permitting) at 1:30 p.m., immediately followed by the classroom parties from 2:00-3:00 p.m. All parents are welcome to attend the parade, but only assigned room parents will be attending the parties. Students will have no food at the parties, so they will be masked during the entire party.
Students should not wear their costumes to school in the morning. For safety reasons, please use face paints instead of masks, and please remember, items like toy swords, guns, bats and other weapons MAY NOT be brought to school. If your child(ren) will be leaving the building during the lunch hour to prepare for this event, please complete the form at this link by 3pm on Wednesday, October 27th. Each class/grade level will be released from a specific door. More information will be shared when we know the number of students leaving. When students return at 12:50, they line up outside their morning entrance doors.
There is no need for students to go home to prepare. If students stay at school, time will be provided for them to put on their costumes.
