It’s only been a couple of years, but you’ve made such a difference in our music program here at the school,” said Provo Peaks Elementary Success Coach Kim Gishi; she nominated Provo Peaks Elementary Music Teacher Stormy Winscott for the Provo Way Award. This week, we congratulate Winscott for receiving the Provo Way Award. It takes a great music teacher to take each student across all skill levels to build musical literacy and competency, but like finding the correct key for a tune, you know it when you hear it. On Thursday, March 7th, the District is hosting its annual Elementary Choral Festival.
Each elementary school choir has prepared one piece of music to share with the other elementary school choir students in the district. They will perform for one another and also sing one a piece together, six hundred students strong. The Provo City School District Foundation recognizes the great work performed every day by employees of the district and strives to support them whenever possible. Each year six outstanding educators (1 principal, 1 classified/prof. tech. employee, and 4 teachers) are recognized for their contribution to the education of students. Poetry Ourselves is an original poetry writing competition open to Utah’s 9th-12th graders. A student may submit either one or two original poems of any format – OR – up to a maximum of ten original haiku.
