Veterans Day Breakfast
This will be the last opportunity to fill out the form for the Veterans Day breakfast.
We will host our annual Veterans Day Breakfast on NEXT FRIDAY November 10th!!
Please remember to email lynsey_comer@plsd.us with an image after you complete the google form. Please add their name in the subject line.
If you are new to Violet Elementary, we like to celebrate our Violet veterans with a celebration breakfast. We invite students and their special Veteran to come and join us for a breakfast provided by, and served by our wonderful Violet staff.
This breakfast is open to the Violet Elementary Student, and their Veteran. Unfortunately due to space we can not have the whole family join us. We will offer an alternative way for families to see how we honor our Veterans.
If you have a special Veteran you would like us to honor, regardless if they are able to attend the breakfast or not, please complete this brief google form.
Pick up and Drop off reminders ๐ ๐๐ถโโ๏ธ
We wanted to remind our community of our pick up and drop off procedures as the weather gets colder, icy, snowy, rainy and all that Ohio throws our way.
Morning:
- During parent drop off, if it is beyond 9:15, and staff are not outside to receive your student, please drive them to the front, park and walk them in to be signed in. They will be locked out of the building at the side and this will be a safety issue.
- Parents are required to sign in students, they can not do it themselves.
- In order to keep the kids safe, please wait until your vehicle is alongside the curb. This will prevent students walking in between moving vehicles.
Afternoon:
- For students who are listed as walkers it is important that cars are not waiting in front of our neighbors homes around the corner. Please be mindful of the people who live within close proximity to the building.
- Another note for walkers, Some students have been reminded to not cut through the daycare busses to get to the grass. Please help us to remind them that they need to walk to the stop sign to cross there. This is another safety issue having kids cross in between moving busses and daycare vans.
- For students who are parent pick up, we start letting students out of the door at 4:00pm. In order to keep that line
Thanks for working together to make sure everyone stays safe.
Schoolstore
Our school will be participating in the SchoolStore program this school year. This online program helps our school earn cash WITHOUT students selling door-to-door, collecting money or delivering products.
Over 400 merchants, including WalMart, BestBuy, Family Bookstore, Kohl's and Old Navy, have joined together to give back up to 50% of all sales to our school just for shopping through SchoolStore.com.
To shop and support our school, simply go to www.schoolstore.com and search for Violet Elementary.
Participation is key in helping get the word out about our School Store. We will expand this program in January, when your child will come home with a parent letter requesting you to help them send emails to friends and family. When you enter email addresses, you'll receive a prize code your child can return the next day for a prize. In the meantime, we are starting with the option to shop via schoolstore.com so Violet can reap some benefits from your holiday shopping. You are getting your shopping done, and Violet students and teacher are rewarded. It is WIN, WIN!!! We are all benefiting.
Thank you for your families' support of our school! Check out some of the merchants included in the program below and how much they will give back to the school. It all adds up!
Smiles Mobile Dentist ๐ฆท

Please be sure your student is prepared for the weather. Students will still be heading outside to recess unless our temperatures drops to a "feels like" temperature of 25 degrees and under.
Trash or Treasure ๐ฌ
Halloween has passed, and those candy wrappers are filling the landfill.
Did you know that we are collecting Candy Wrappers?!
Students are encouraged to bring in their empty candy wrappers and drop into our recycle bin to help the environment. We will be shipping all wrappers back to the factory to recycle and make in to things such as other plastic products.
Our recycle bin is located in the school office.

Counsellor Corner
Satchel Pulse
Dear Pickerington Local School District Families,
We thank you and your family for being our partners as we work together to educate the children in our district. Pickerington Local School District values input from our community, and we need to hear from your child(ren). Their voices are important as we work to improve the overall school experience for students and their families.
We would like your childโs feedback via a 20-30 minute online survey that they will be completing at school. The survey will provide us with social and emotional learning (SEL) information. SEL is the process through which children and adults apply the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions. These are the skill sets that promote success in life.
We are asking that all of our students in grades K-2 participate in the surveys, as their feedback will provide important insights into their school experiences for direction in planning to meet their needs. If a student does not feel they have enough information to answer a question, they will be able to skip the item altogether.
We are partnering with Satchel Pulse to support us in the survey process. The assessment uses an age appropriate emoji sliding scale for students to respond with. To view the survey content, please feel free to copy and paste the following links into your browser:
Parent SEL information -Satchel Pulse
Please notify us if you do not want your child to participate in the survey by TUESDAY NOVEMBER 7th To opt-out, you may return the completed form or email your childโs School Counselor.
We thank you in advance for your support. If you have any questions about the survey, please do not hesitate to contact Cathy Ely, Executive Director of Prevention & Intervention Services, at 614-835-2091.

Ribbon week recap โค๏ธ
Special shout out to Mrs Lowe and her intern Emily for putting together a fun Red Ribbon Week agenda with an important theme of "Celebrate Life. Live Drug Free"
To celebrate Red Ribbon Week, we focused on making safe and healthy choices...and have a little fun while doing it!!!
Throughout the week, we asked students the following questions:
Were they the BEST version of themselves?
Did they take care of their bodies by eating healthy foods, exercising and getting enough sleep?
Who is their โsafeโ person when they have an โuh-ohโ feeling?
What is one choice they can make differently to have healthier habits?
Another special shout out to those of you who were able to donate to the drive. We collected over 100 cans of food, 60+ dry food items, 10+ bathroom essentials and over 50 cans of playdough!!! Thank you. These will go directly to the Pickerignton Food Pantry to support those in our community.
Below are some pics of the fun!

All students in Preschool, Kindergarten, 1st grade, 3rd grade and any new student to the district will have their vision and hearing screened this year. This is done during the school day. If your student is unable to pass either the vision or hearing exam, they will be retested on a different day. After the second attempt, if they are unable to pass a referral will be sent via US mail and email to the parent/guardian.
It is important to follow up with your healthcare provider if your student receives a vision and/or hearing referral.
