Message from Principal and Assistant Principal

No School On Friday

There is no school on Friday, November 10, in observance of Veteran's Day. Our Byam staff would like to express our sincere gratitude to all of our veterans of the armed service. Thank you for your service.

11/15 Early Release Day - Parent Teacher Conferences

Conferences

We are at the beginning of family-teacher conference season. These conferences are an important piece in ongoing home-school communication and family involvement. The Harvard Family Research Project from the Harvard School of Education, highlights three themes when approaching family-teacher conferences. Conferences should be a two-way conversation where both sides share information about the student. These conferences place an emphasis on learning. Finally conferences will most likely contain opportunities and challenges. They will include positive feedback and also areas for improvement. Home to school communication is a predictor for positive outcomes for students and schools and we at Byam look at our conference times with you as a way to strengthen our partnership.

Coming up students will be continuing our Byam 3R weekly focus with ways to show the 3R Responsibility in our Byam hallway and cubby locations.

CARTWheel Parent/Caregiver Monthly Series.

Cartwheel, a partner with the Chelmsford Public Schools will be offering another of its Virtual webinar topics for parents and caregivers on December 6, at 7:00 pm (virtually) - The topic for December 7th is: Parenting Strategies for kids with ADHD. Link will be communicated closer to the date.

Dear Byam families,

Most families experience times of big change at some point or another in their life, such as moving to a new home, a parent beginning or ending a job, a separation or divorce, re-marriage or a loss in the family. When changes are on the horizon or currently happening, parents are often looking for ways to support their children as they process and adjust to the change. I would like to share an article with some practical strategies for supporting kids with change from the Big Life Journal blog by Ashley Cullins, called “7 Ways to Help Kids Cope with Big Life Changes”. I hope you will find it helpful in supporting your children with the changes you may experience in your own families.

The Scholastic Book Fair Is Almost Here 11/20-11/22

Join us in-person on Monday 11/20 3:30-5:30PM, Tuesday 11/21 3:30-5:30PM, Wednesday (early dismissal day) 12:30-4:30PM out in front of Byam! We have stickers and some new bookmarks to give out at the fair! We also have LOTS of new RAFFLE prizes!
