TeSA Families,

This will be one of the longest newsletter of the year, filled with information you need to be ready for the first day of school on Monday, August 15th. Some of the sections are repeated from the last newsletter to make sure no one has missed the information. Everything you need on your to do list is labeled "action item" so it stands out. Please start by reading the Back-to-School Reminders linked below and attending the TeSA Blastoff on Wednesday.

Wednesday, August 10th will be our TeSA Blastoff from 5:30-7:00 p.m.! This event will welcome all families to the campus to see the class lists, meet the teachers, join PTO, explore after-school options, and learn more about the 2022-2023 school year.

Safety Committee

Last night, our newly revamped TCA+A Safety Committee met with members from TeSA, FWAFA, and TCA+A. In the next few weeks, TCA+A will be publishing some safety updates you'll see on both campuses. We have exciting changes coming, including increased teacher/staff training and the hiring of a School Resource Officer to attend all after-school TeSA events. We will continue to work with the Edgecliff Village Fire Department and the Tarrant County Sherriff's Department to keep our TeSA families safe!

Campus Visitors

Once school is in session, all campus visitors will be asked to show a valid ID when checking into the front office. Ms. Tammy will run all IDs through our Raptor School Safety Software before allowing visitors to enter the rest of the school. Thank you for planning a few extra minutes for your visits.

TeSA Volunteers

As part of our safety plan, all volunteers must be pre-approved. Before volunteering on campus, the official application must be received and the background check completed. Depending on the time of year, this can take 2-3 days or 2-3 weeks. Click HERE to download the volunteer application, and turn it in as soon as possible to be prepared to help at TeSA this school year.

Breakfast will be available for all TeSA students daily from 7:30-7:50. At 7:55, all students still in the cafeteria will be sent to their homeroom class.

Lunches are 27 minutes and overlap based on the size of each grade-level. Parents are welcome to eat lunch with their child and should plan to arrive at least 5 minutes early to check in the front office. Students may only eat with their own parent or approved visitor unless written permission is sent ahead of time.

1st Red = 11:05

1st Blue = 11:10

2nd Red = 11:30

2nd Blue = 11:35

3rd = 11:25

4th = 11:40

5th = 11:00

We are switching to a new program called MySchoolBucks. At this time, we are still waiting on information from MySchoolBucks on how to add funds to student accounts. We will update our families as soon as possible.

Safety is our top priority, and that includes safety for our families in the driveline as well. Thank you for putting your cell phones away and driving 5 mph while circling the driveline. During the first week, our arrival and dismissal may back up as all parents, students, and new staff learn the procedures. You can expect significantly less time by the second week of school. Please review our procedures and share these with anyone else who will pick up your student(s).

Arrival

*Parents should only enter the building through the front doors (facing Village Pkwy).

*Parents must go through the driveline or park in the front & walk their child to the side door.

*Driveline is one way only In the morning. We only use the outside lane.

*Students must exit the passenger side of the vehicle.

*Students need to be ready to exit the car immediately after stopping.

*Students are welcome to get out of the vehicle on their own. Our staff is there to help those who need it.

Dismissal

*K-1st will begin exiting the building at 3:30.

*2nd-5th (& younger siblings) will begin exiting at 3:45.

*A car sign needs to be visible from turning into the lot until your child is in the vehicle. A pants hanger is strongly recommended for easy access. (This is both how we help direct traffic coming in AND know your child is with you and that you can be directed out).

*Vehicles may not cut in front of others or change lanes.

*Students must enter the car on the passenger side.

*Vehicles should move forward as soon as possible. Extra time for buckling can be taken on the white lines past the dismissal area.

*If a spot is available, drivers may park in the front parking lot and walk to the trees (holding their car sign) to pick up their child.

PTO invites you to join in with your tears or cheers for donuts and coffee on Monday, August 15th. After dropping off your TeSA students, look for your fellow parents under the trees on the south side of TeSA. Park in the spots on the south side of the building. Overflow parking will be in the grass on the south side of the playground.

Spirit shirts from any school year sold through PTO can be worn with any approved uniform bottom or jeans every Friday!

As a reminder, we must have updated immunization records prior to the first day of school. Reach out to your doctor's office for an updated copy, or schedule your appointment ASAP. Immunization records can be emailed or turned in during the TeSA Blastoff. Students may NOT attend school without up-to-date immunization records.

We will be using Remind during the 2022-2023 school year for weekly newsletters, quick reminders, and emergency communication. This newsletter is coming to you through both Remind and email to make sure we capture as many TeSA families as possible. If you only received this through email, please use the codes below to join both the TeSA and your child's grade-level accounts.

Returning families have been rolled up to the next grade level, and only need to join if they were not already utilizing Remind during the 2021-2022 school year.

The 2022-2023 TeSA Dress Code was approved as part of the 2022-2023 TeSA Student Handbook during the last TCA+A Board Meeting. There are no major changes for the coming year. Families are welcome to start purchasing uniforms now. Order new items through our official uniform vendor, Flynn O'Hara, or visit the TeSA PTO Resale Facebook page to find gently used items. If you purchase uniform pieces from any other store, the color, cut, and style must match the Flynn O'Hara version.

The 2022-2023 TeSA Student Handbook was approved in May TCA+A Board Meeting, and is available to view on the TeSA website. After reviewing the handbook, please click HERE to sign the acknowledgment form. A new form is needed each school year per student.

The TCA+A Gala will be held August 27th. We have missed celebrating with you all and look forward to gathering again at the Greatest Show in Fort Worth. This event is our largest fundraiser of the year benefiting all of TCA+A’s great organizations like TeSA.

Tickets are on sale now. In addition to purchasing tickets, there are a variety of ways our families can get involved. We need sponsors, auction items, and volunteer support. If you would like to help, look for more information on our website or email lauren.whitson@artsacademics.org.

The most important thing you can do with your child this summer to avoid the summer slide is read! We encourage all families to read to their students, ask their students to read to them, or establish a routine of family quiet reading time.

If you are looking for additional ways to keep your child learning this summer, please consider completing the choice board for your student’s grade for the 2022-2023 academic year. These assignments are completely optional, AND highly encouraged!

It's not too late to invite your friends to audition for TeSA! We have just a few spots in each grade level. Send them to our website to get started today!

TCA+A offers after school classes in Dance, Music, and Visual Arts that provide a great way for your student to add to their artistic training. Classes happen after school on both the TeSA and FWAFA campuses.
