St. Mary's Lions Letter
November 28, 2023
Dear St. Mary’s Family,
I pray your Thanksgiving was a wonderful one and you were able to spend time with family and friends. It's nice to pause for a moment to recognize the blessings in our lives and to express the meaningful moments that enrich us. As a school, we are grateful for the opportunity to nurture, educate, and guide your children every day. Their growth, curiosity, and accomplishments fill our halls with pride and joy!
Speaking of opportunities, I am excited to share with you an engaging approach we are implementing in our first through fifth grade classrooms - Learning Stations. These learning stations are designed to create dynamic and interactive learning experiences that cater to diverse learning styles and foster a deeper understanding of the curriculum. Similar to the essential Montessori philosophy elements in our PK/K classrooms, learning stations encourage active engagement, foster collaboration, differentiate instruction, and reinforce concepts. As partners in your child's education, we encourage you to discuss these stations with your child, ask about experiences, and inquire about the activities they engage in during these rotations. We are excited to monitor student growth as the year progresses!
While we only have 3 weeks before Christmas break, these weeks will be filled with numerous activities and events. Please take a few minutes to read today's newsletter in addition to the flyers that are in today's Tuesday folder.
STEPS FOR STUDENTS FUNDRAISER
I know it can seem that as soon as one fundraiser ends, another one begins! However, please know that Steps for Students is our largest and most crucial fundraiser in order to keep tuition costs as accessible as possible for our families. As we navigate the ongoing challenges and rising operational expenses, we are seeking your partnership to help us in this endeavor. The actual cost to educate a child at St. Mary's is $9,257.00. To help bridge this financial gap, reaching our Steps for Students goal of $50,000 is essential. Many thanks to those of you who have not only registered, but already have received donations! We are excited to offer exciting incentives this year, with our first incentive (Pajama Day AND Magic Show) being awarded on Thursday, December 7th for those who raise at least $100.00 by Wednesday, December 6th. Please see today's Tuesday folder for additional incentives. Thank you for your support!
SHARE YOUR BLESSINGS TOY DRIVE and BOX OF JOY DRIVE
Once again, we are participating in Catholic Charities 30th Annual Share Your Blessings Toy Drive. This Drive will be in addition to our Box of Joy drive. You can choose to do either or both. Share Your Blessings Toy Drive will benefit needy families in the greater Houston area and the Box of Joy Drive will benefit needy families in 3rd world countries. Many thanks for your generosity!
