Happy February!

We are back in the swing of school with our second semester underway. Thank you for sharing your wonderful children with us. As we begin to think about spring, this is my favorite time of year with students. Routines are in place, confidence is blooming and we are all in a good rhythm.

We will have parent/teacher conferences in March, so be on the lookout for a signup genius in the next few weeks.

As a placeholder for your calendars, Cherry Creek School District will administer the Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) English Language Arts and Math tests for students in grades 3-8. Additionally, CMAS Science tests for students in grades 5, 8, and 11. Fox Hollow will begin assessments the week of April 1st concluding the week of April 15th. I realize this a few months away but wanted to bring these dates to your attention.

The sign up for Sign Language Club is open now.

Sign Language Club will be held on the following Thursday afternoons from 2:45 - 3:40 pm. February 8, 15, 22, 29, March 14 and 28.

Students from 1st semester need to wait until after Feb 5 to sign up if there is still room. Please email LJ lgiacinto@cherrycreekschools.org to be added to the wait list.

Drop Off: General drop off begins at 7:50 AM. Always pull completely forward in the car loop when there is space to do so. Students can be let out anywhere after the yellow lines on the sidewalk and not before. Stay in your car at all times while in the car loop. If you need to get out for any reason, please find a space in the parking lot. Remember to always use the crosswalks and not walk between cars. The tardy bell rings at 8:00 AM.

On snowy or icy days, please drive slowly. Students will be given extra time before attendance is taken to enter the building safely.

Pick Up: Always pull completely forward in the car loop when there is space to do so. Stay in your car at all times while in the car loop. If you need to get out for any reason, please find a space in the parking lot. Remember to always use the crosswalks. Staff will not send students to walk between cars to meet you in the parking lot. Pick up is at 2:45 PM Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. *Wednesday pick up is 1:45 PM*

Dear Parents/Guardians,

As you may know the Cherry Creek School District implemented a new Volunteer/Partner Process in January of 2022 in direct adherence to Colorado Legislation regarding Volunteers in our Schools.

The form CCSD Volunteer Registration QR Code must be completed by each person who would like to volunteer in our schools only once per school year. The form should only take a few minutes to complete. The information will then be linked to the Raptor System used at all schools across the District. Upon approval of the form, it will approve volunteer activities in all CCSD buildings.

You will be expected to scan your identification in the Raptor system and wear the badge that it will print for you each time you enter the building.

Definitions:

• Volunteers are guests who support students, complete tasks, and are under the immediate supervision and direction of District licensed personnel.

• Volunteers are expected to fill out the CCSD Volunteer Registration Form (linked above)

• Visitors are guests who are solely entering the building to conduct business such as participating in a meeting, eating lunch with their student, or attending a school sponsored activity.

• Visitors are NOT expected to fill out the CCSD Volunteer Registration Form (linked above)

The safety and security of our students and staff remains our top priority. Every person entering our buildings must have a District ID or a badge printed from the Raptor System.

We provide breakfast in the cafeteria for students starting at 7:40 a.m. daily.

The Titan Family Portal is a secure, online system that allows parents to:

• Make an online payment to their children's cafeteria meal accounts
• Remotely monitor their children's accounts
• Set up automatic recurring payments
• Submit an online application for free and/or reduced meals

Thank you for your continued support of the Arts at Fox Hollow! All grade levels are currently working on their clay projects, we are having fun exploring with the messy materials! All art projects will be returned in the spring after the Art Shows.

March Madness will have NOTHING on us! We have just finished our basketball unit. Students worked hard on dribbling, passing and shooting. As with all of our other units, students saw improvement in their skills and gained confidence in their basketball abilities!

Our next unit will be hockey! Rest assured, we will be using foam hockey sticks and soft plastic pucks! As with all our sports, safety is our number one priority!

Intramurals

Remaining dates for Intramurals are as follows:

5th Grade – February 5, 12, 26. March 4, 11, 25.

4th Grade – February 6, 13, and 27.

And, as a friendly reminder, please make sure your student is picked up at 3:45 p.m.!

Spring Runner’s Club

Spring Runner’s Club will be starting in April. Look for dates in the next newsletter! Spring Runner’s Club will be on Mondays and Tuesdays from 2:50 – 3:20

Students have been hard at work in the STEM lab, learning about programming and practicing their skills. Third, fourth and fifth grade students are designing and programming their own video games using Bloxels, while first and second graders are learning to program using the Scratch, Jr. app. Kindergarten is learning how to navigate while using a mouse on a computer, and they are learning important digital citizenship skills at the same time. Please visit the STEM website for more info and to see what we are working on next!

We will be having vision screenings for preschool students on February 14, 2024. You will be notified if there are any concerns with your child’s vision. Our Before and After School Care program ("Discovery Club") runs before school between 6:30-8:00AM and after school between 2:45–6:00PM (1:45–6:00PM on Wednesdays). All K-5 elementary schools release one hour earlier (1:45PM) every Wednesday. This time is set aside to provide our elementary teachers with professional development and training opportunities. For families who participate in after-school childcare, the after-school program will be extended every Wednesday at no additional cost. For families who need care, you can register with our school's program. See Section "Before and After School Care" for additional information. For Preschool students only, pick-up time is normal on Wednesdays.
