Early Learning Center Update
November 3, 2023
A Greeting from Dr. Champagne-Lee
Dear Families,
The month of November is here and so are colder temperatures! We hope that all students and families are doing well. Today is the final day of the first marking period. Our students are learning and growing. We can't wait to share their progress with you during the upcoming conferences.
Have a wonderful weekend. Thank you.
Educationally Yours,
Keya Champagne-Lee, Ed.D.

Kindergarten students are programming robots!
These are photos from recent STEM classes. The “puzzles” will get more difficult throughout the year! This was also a lesson on group work and taking turns!
School-Wide Positive Behavior Supports (SWPBIS)
SWPBIS
Cool Fact: The Phoenixville Area Early Learning Center is one of a small number of schools in Pennsylvania that has been recognized for having a robust, evidence-based, tiered, positive behavior support model in place. We are incredibly proud of the continuous efforts of our teachers and staff for their teaching, modeling, and reinforcement of our CUBS expectations. This week, two of our esteemed behavioral leaders, Ms. Dellaquila and Mrs. Finkbohner, attended the annual state SWPBIS conference to share our school's strategies with others. They also learned some great information from other schools across the state. We thank Ms. Dellaquila and Mrs. Finkbohner for showcasing the awesome work that is happening in our school.
Creepy Carrots in First Grade
Mrs. Finley's and Mrs. Finkbohner's class read Creepy Carrots and participated in a STEM activity where they worked together as a team to create a fence out of carrots and toothpicks to keep the creepy carrots in!
Safe Touches
Upcoming Lesson
Once again, the Phoenixville Area Early Learning Center will be partnering with The Crime Victim’s Center of Chester County, Inc. to offer the Safe Touches program to all kindergarten and first grade students. Trained clinicians will be visiting your child’s classroom to deliver a lesson designed to help keep kids safe. Safe Touches is an evidence-based program developed by the New York Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children.
It teaches children how to:
- Keep their bodies safe;
- Recognize the difference between safe and not safe touches;
- Tell a trusted adult (such as a parent) if they have experienced a not-safe touch.
Passive consent forms were sent home as a hard copy with all students.

We have a large accumulation of lost items that have not yet been ‘found’ in PAELC and Manavon. These items are located in the entryway next to the main office. Please visit the school to search for your child's missing item! No appointment is needed.
