What's Happening at School?
Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire Schools Oct.2019
Assessing Student Learning
Effective assessment is a fundamental part of instruction and learning. For the teacher, the assessment should answer these questions: "What do I want my students to be able to do as a result of my teaching?" and " How do I know the students learned what I taught?" (IIF-NIET)
The students knowledge and understanding of the core standards are shown through assessment. Assessment can come in many forms: projects, experiments, written, and speaking. Below Miss Graettinger's juniors take their end of the quarter test. This edition of "What's Happening at School?" share some of the assessments used at GT/RA.
Anatomy Student Assessment
The GT/RA Anatomy students created models of skin from a tissue box. The students then shared their model in an interview with someone on the school staff.

Be Where Your Feet Are
Mrs. Price read the book, "Be Where Your Feet Are" by Julia Cook to the GT 4th Grade students. Be Where Your Feet Are! reinforces the concepts of mindfulness and being present in a fun way children will remember, and shows what can happen when we learn to appreciate the world – and people – around us.
