A MESSAGE FROM MR. LUCITA
Dear Jaguar Band Families,
Welcome back!!!! I hope everyone had a wonderful, restful and Happy Thanksgiving, and I want to say Thank You to everyone who participated in the game this past Friday! It was a chilly, rainy day, on a holiday weekend; however, thanks to everyone who attended, we had a great time together! I know students, techs and the directors had holiday plans with their families, and your attendance and commitment to our band program is what helps make us great! Thank you!!
This week there are no after school band rehearsals. However, please make sure to keep an eye on the calendar for all upcoming concert rehearsals and the Christmas Concert on December 12th. There will be a couple of after school rehearsals for each group in a effort to allow all In-Person, Virtual and Percussion students to have the opportunity to rehearse with their concert ensemble. There will also be rehearsals scheduled for percussion, jazz and guard. The current plan is for students to wear concert black attire (all black items: pants, shoes, shirt, dresses, etc...). We will NOT issue the formal concert uniforms. Students may also wear Christmas Hats, Ears, Antlers, etc. to help set the mood for the concert as long as they do not create a distraction or impede another students ability to see. Considering the concert will be outside, please be aware that the weather may impact what we wear as far as jackets and coats. We will monitor the weather as the concert gets closer.
Now that we are breaking into numerous ensembles it is EXTREMELY important that parents and students pay close attention to their child’s specific ensemble communications and the calendar for dates and times of their groups activities. The calendar will be updated this Monday when we return with the various upcoming activities.
Region Band recordings are this week! Students participating in those auditions, please make sure you are ready to record!! Remember, you may record at home or at JHS! We wish all of our student the very best of luck in this process!
At this point, the UIL Solo & Ensemble contest is still scheduled to happen. We are not sure if it will be virtual or in-person; however, it is a go. Over the next few weeks students will either select or be assigned their solo for this event! Solo & Ensemble is scheduled for February 6th, and we are giving all students plenty of time to prepare in order to ensure their success.
Finally, the information and communications concerning the Johnson Band’s upcoming trip to Hawaii will start ramping up!! The trip is scheduled for Spring Break 2022! The “Perform America Texas” travel company will start the scheduled payment process this upcoming January! Please be on the lookout for more information about this incredible trip coming soon!
Calling all students interested in Winter Guard!! Help us put out the word to all Johnson HS students that the opportunity to be a part of our incredible Guard Program is available yet again!! There is no experience required to be a part of this group! Make sure you spread the word! Any student interested simply need contact any one of the Band Directors, and we will point them in the right direction! Anyone interested can call the Band Hall, send an email or pop into the Band Hall during the school day!
Finally, the question we have had asked the most lately!! What happens if the football team makes the playoffs? Currently we do not know the expectations or opportunities for the band. If our football team makes the playoffs, we will absolutely support them to the best of our ability. We do not know if the team will make the playoffs at this point, nor do we know if a playoff game will be Friday or Saturday or if a playoff game will be Home/Away or at a neutral site. There are many questions that do not have answers at this time; however, we can confirm that we will do everything we can to support our team and school! We simply ask that everyone be patient as the opportunities unfold and we see what options are available!
Have a great week!
Mr. Lucita

Parent Section Leads!
Your "Parent Section Lead" should have contacted you or will be contacting you soon! These parents will be available to you as a first source of information! This will be a great way for us to not only improve our lines of communication but to build relationships in our Jaguar Band family during a challenging time - something that is usually easier to do when we are all seeing each other so often during a regular "Bandtober"! So keep your eyes open for an email from your Parent Section Lead!
Volunteer !
The end of marching season does not mean the end of volunteering! In fact, we will start preparing for the 2021 marching season this Spring, so please know that we will be reaching out via email soon! Or better yet, let us know if you have any particular interests by filling out our Committee Interest Form!

Band Sponsorships and opportunity to put Student names on trailer!
The Johnson Jaguar Band depends in large part on the fundraising efforts of the Band Boosters. Sponsorships are a very important part of fundraising. Our Sponsorship levels have been updated, and we have a lot of exciting options for businesses AND families! We ask that every family please share this brochure with anyone you know that has a business. We are eager to help promote businesses in our community that support the Jaguar Band! If you would like color copies of our Sponsorship Brochure, we are happy to provide them.
