CASTLE CHRONICLES - October 23, 2023
The Castle was Rockin' on Saturday Night!
The Homecoming Dance was well-attended by students in grades 9-12 on October 21, 2023!
Small, but Knighty!
7th Graders Crushed Spirit Week to Win 1st Place in the Chalice Challenges!
A very successful Spirit Week ended on Friday afternoon with a school-wide pep rally in the gymnasium.
Coffee? Tea? Sweets? The Hump Day Café has it all!
Every Wednesday afternoon, students in Ms. Greenberg's class take their talent on the road and deliver coffee, tea, homemade baked goods and the absolute best smiles to SMHS staff!
SMHS Peer Leaders are Training!
A World of Difference peer training has begun at SMHS under the guidance of SMHS teachers and the Anti-Defamation League New England.
The Peer Training Program provides students in grades 7-12 with the opportunity to facilitate and sustain positive social change in their schools.
The goals for the year are to develop student leadership, critical thinking and conflict management skills. The program aims to foster positive peer influence to promote greater social responsibility and a more inclusive and respectful school community.
SMHS SCHOOL COUNCIL LOOKING FOR PARENT/GUARDIAN REPRESENTATIVES
SMHS School Council is composed of students, parents/guardians, teachers, community members and administrators who meet once a month to review school policies, discuss school improvement plans and explore new ideas. Next meeting is November 20, 2023 at 2:15 PM.

Congratulations to our first Athlete of the Week: Lexi Eastman!
Her coaches describe her as the heartbeat of the team.
Not only can Lexi can always get the runners fired up, but she is also the first to jump in and help.
Did we mention that Lexi also crosses the finish line first?!

The Early Action Deadline for college applications is November 1, 2023.
Please contact the guidance office or your school counselor with questions.
Senior Portraits are due on November 1, 2023!
Important Senior Portrait Information:
The deadline for senior portraits is November 1, 2023. There are various ways to submit the portrait:
- The student's photographer can send the portrait to Scott Childress, Yearbook Advisor at schildress@sandwich.k12.ma.us
- The student can email the portrait to Mr. Childress directly (schildress@sandwich.k12.ma.us)
- If the student prefers to upload the photo directly to our website, please follow these instructions via this link: https://www.hjeshare.com/eShare/
- Enter blueknights as our school code
- Confirm that the high school is correct
- Enter your name and email address
- Be sure to choose "Upload Your Portrait" as your selection
You can share these instructions with your student's photographer if they are uploading the photos directly.

GRADE 7 MONSTER MASH DANCE OCTOBER 27, 2023
Grade 7 families:
Costumes are welcome! Please no masks or 'weapon-like' accessories (swords, canes, etc.).
Student drop off and pick-up will be at the main entrance of SMHS.
Donations of individually wrapped snacks for the Snack Bar can be dropped off in the main office.

Information Meeting for a 2025 Middle School Trip to Vancouver, Canada
November 2, 2023 at 6:30 PM in room A203
In conjunction with the EF Tour Company, the middle school science department would like to explore parent and student interest for a S.T.E.M. trip to Vancouver, Canada during our 2025 April vacation.
Open to current grade 7 & 8 students, they will become junior engineers, visit suspended bridges and learn about sustainability. This educational trip is limited to 40 students. An informational meeting will be held on November 2, 2023 at 6:30 PM in room A203.
