Chess Team Places Second at State
Congratulations to the eighth-grade Daniel Wright Chess team for coming in second place in the state tournament over the weekend.
There were over 40 schools made up of more than 500 players who competed. Additionally, the team members Sanjay Advani, Sanjeev Anbumani, Eeshan Gudapati, Rishab Konada, Anshu Shesham, and Atharva Singh all won six of eight matches each individually earning bronze medals and second runner-up overall. The team is coached by Doug Steffens.
The seventh-grade team finished in eighth place. The team included Ethan Hu (bronze medal 2nd Runner-Up), Shlok Sriwastava (bronze medal 2nd Runner-Up), Jason Chen Lu, Ebrahim Mahmood, Avyukt Singh, and Frank Yuan.
The sixth-grade team finished in 14th place with only three players. The team included Abhiram Gudapati (bronze medal 2nd Runner-Up), Mohammad Jawad Audi, and Aarav Kulkarni.

Science Olympiad Moves Onto Regionals
The Daniel Wright Science Olympiad team took home the third-place trophy at the 3rd Annual BirdSO Satellite tournament, which took place in mid-February. The BirdSO was the largest tournament of the season with 171 teams competing. Individual medals earned were one 10th place, two 8th place, three 7th place, two 6th place, one 4th place, and two 2nd place. The team will compete next on Saturday, March 4, in the Regionals Tournament at the College of Lake County.
8th-Grade Health Night
Please join us on Wednesday, March 8, for an evening out with your eighth-grader. Lizzy Appleby, LCSW, of Youth Services Glenview, will discuss "Building Healthy Relationships" where parents and students will learn ways to build the foundation for healthy adolescent relationships and how to communicate boundaries with peers. 6th-Grade Parent Volunteers Needed
Sixth-grade students will be attending Outdoor Education at the YMCA Camp MacLean in Burlington, Wisconsin, on Monday, May 8, and Tuesday, May 9. We are seeking parents to chaperone this amazing outdoor experience!
Chaperone responsibilities include riding the bus to and from camp, as well as general support and supervision during meals, classes, games, and overnight in the cabins. If you are interested in being a chaperone, please complete this google form. All lottery submissions should be made no later than NOON on Friday, March 31. A lottery to select chaperones will be held in early April and all parents will be notified of selection by Friday, April 7.
Register for Snowflake
Registration is now open on the RevTrak Web Store platform for the seventh-grade Snowflake Drug and Alcohol Prevention Program that takes place Friday, March 17, at Daniel Wright.
Students will attend school from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Parents are invited to attend a parent-only session from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.
This is a regular attendance day for students with an altered schedule.
Students should be at their assigned bus stop by 1:25 p.m. for transportation to Daniel Wright.
If students decline to attend the Snowflake program they should attend their regular school day and will receive an adaptive schedule related to the seventh-grade curriculum.

After School Activities
Registration for Spring After School Activity courses are now open. Please use the RevTrak Web Store platform to register for all programs. Classes do fill up and are offered on a first-come-first-serve basis. Classes begin after school the week of April 3 and run for about six weeks. Please visit the After School Activities website for detailed information about these clubs.
