A Note from Mrs. Williams
Hello Schluter Families!
Today was the best day of the school year so far, Carl Day!! Thankfully the rain held off long enough to do almost all of our outdoor experiences with students. Here are just some of the experiences students had today. Be sure to ask your kiddos about some of these!
- Southwest Dairy Farmer
- Bootcamp
- Art & Physics Outdoor Pendulum Art
- Basketball with the Eaton Basketball Team
- Life-Sized Corn Maze Challenge
- Physics with the Eaton Physics Department
- Aviation with the Eaton Aviation Academy
- Archery
- Rock Painting
- Corntastic Popcorn
- Farmer Mark’s Hayride
- Petting Zoo
- STEAM Rockets
- Robotics with the Eaton Robotics Club
- Animal Environments & Ecosystems with Outdoor Amy from the Outdoor Learning Center
- And more!
I want to also give a special shout out to all of our volunteers and student volunteers from Eaton that helped to facilitate experiences for our students! This day is not possible without them, and we appreciate everyone who gave supplies and/or their time to help make this day wonderful for our students! Thank you!! I also want to thank Mr. Mark Schluter, son of Carl E. Schluter, and his son Eric Schluter for coming today and every year to do hayrides for the students and be such a positive presence. As a member of the NISD school board, he has quite the busy schedule, but he always makes time to visit our Schluter Spurs and make our Carl Day so meaningful. We love getting to stay connected with the Schluter family!
Be sure to check out our social media pages via Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook to see all of the great learning and fun that was had!
While the day went smoothly with Carl Day, the weather took a turn at dismissal. Thank you so much for your patience and understanding during our dismissal this afternoon. It ran longer than normal with having to wait for the lightning to pass. Our staff and students did a great job adapting to those last minute changes. Thank you again for your support during that time!
Hopefully all of the bad weather has passed, and everyone has a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Williams

Cyber security a priority in Northwest ISD
Cyber security remains a priority in Northwest ISD, and our district spent Cyber Security Month in October providing helpful tips to stay safe electronically. Read about some of those initiatives here.
Follow long-range planning process for future schools, facilities
At their last meeting, the committee discussed the growth of extracurricular programs. Some potential extracurricular facilities being discussed include options for our growing fine arts programs, a second agricultural center to support a future fourth comprehensive high school and potentially building home stadiums at every high school. Learn more about their progress at www.nisdtxlrpc.org.
Help name Northwest ISD’s next elementary schools
What should Northwest ISD’s next five elementary schools be named? Let us know by submitting your nomination! The district is currently accepting nominations, including for the next school, which is slated to open in 2024 in the Wildflower Ranch community.
Submissions must meet the district’s criteria, and the proposed namesake for any nomination must no longer be living for consideration. Submit your nomination using this online form.
Alphabest Afterschool Care
Reminder: Use MyShoolBucks for school meal accounts
Free or reduced-priced meals now require 2022-2023 application
For students who meet federal requirements, school meals may be provided free or at a reduced cost. To receive this benefit, a student's parent or guardian must fill out the free or reduced-cost meal application and be granted admission into the program. While students in the program receive the same benefits briefly at the start of the following school year, the application must be completed annually to continue receiving the program's benefits. For any student who received benefits from the free or reduced-priced meal program in 2021-2022 but has not yet applied and been granted its benefits for the current school year, regular costs are now in effect.
In order for benefits to continue, an application must be completed and returned and free or reduced-price meals will continue to be provided, if the student qualifies. The application can be completed at this link. Paper applications are also available at all Northwest ISD campuses. Please direct any questions to Yen Brown, free and reduced specialist, at 817-698-1091.
Registration ongoing for annual NISD Reindeer Romp
The event begins with the 1-mile run at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, December 10, followed 30 minutes later by the 5K race. Both races take place at Alliance Airport. Register now and select our school to help our P.E. program! Information and registration is available at www.nisdreindeerromp.com.
Watch Facebook Live addressing growth, new schools and rezoning
Northwest ISD will host another Facebook Live in December after the attendance boundary proposal has been presented to the school board. When the December broadcast invitation is sent, make plans to attend live to submit your questions.
