Stewart Kindness Week - 2/10-2/13 - The character word of the month in February is Kindness. Students and staff will participate in some kindness activities through the month with a special week dedicated called Kindness Week!

ATTENDANCE UPDATES

Attendance Goal

Current Attendance Rate - Currently, Stewart Elementary is at a 16% chronic absenteeism rate. With recent spikes in illnesses, we've seen quite a bit more student absences and an increase in students being sent home sick. The winter months are always tricky with staff and student sickness. Please continue to communicate with Stewart when your child is absent and, if you have them, turn in your doctor's notes. Thank you parents for making sure your students are getting to school!

Stewart Attendance Goal - maintain a chronic absenteeism rate under 13%

Student Illness

If your child is not feeling well, please use the guidelines below to help determine if your student is able to attend school or not. If your child is not well enough to attend school, please be sure to contact the school to inform us of their absence.

Attendance Magnets

After a small setback, we will be planning to send these attendance magnets home this month. All students will be coming home with an attendance fridge magnet (posted below) and a dry erase marker. This can be helpful for tracking your child's attendance at home throughout each trimester and will assist Stewart Elementary and the Washington CSD with improving student chronic absenteeism.

PICK UP LANE

If your child is picked up or dropped off in the pick up lane, please review the following video to refresh yourself on the expectations. Pick-Up Lane is a busy area and the expectations are in place for safety purposes. Thank you for your understanding and adhering to the rules!!

Pick Up Lane Parking & Traffic

Just a few friendly reminders in regards to our Pick-Up / Drop-Off Lane...

Enter from the North - Entering from the south frequently causes traffic jams. Especially with the weather and road conditions, we do not want to see any accidents!
Neighbor Driveways - On occasion, we are notified that parents are parked in front of driveways while they are dropping off or picking up their students. Please do not block driveways. We do not want to inconvenience our neighbors!
Bus Lane - Please do not park in the bus lane outside of the day care. We've had some parents parking in the loop and the buses have been unable to pull through. The buses run on a tight schedule, so this delays them significantly.

COLD WEATHER

As temperatures continue to shift, please be sure your child brings that appropriate clothing with them to school. Students will continue to go outside unless the Real Feel temperature is below 10º. Stewart Elementary uses the following guidelines to confront the winter weather.
