MAY 2023
THANK YOU 1,000,000!
Friday, May 5th is “School Lunch Hero Day.” This is an opportunity for parents, students, staff, and communities to thank those who provide healthy meals to our students each school day, and even during the summer months. Please take time to thank our child nutrition staff and show appreciation for all their hard work!
Wednesday, May 10 is School Nurse Day. We thank our nurses for their dedication to keeping our students healthy and ready to learn.
And the month of May is Better Speech and Hearing Month. We applaud our Speech Language Pathologists and Deaf & Hard of Hearing Teachers and Assistants, who serve over 500 students in our district who have special needs in these areas. SLPs and DHH teachers provide life-changing interventions that help children develop and thrive in school and life!
Stay tuned for shoutouts on social media this month! #OneCityOnePack

Strategic Planning Update
We are now completing the “Design Phase” of our Strategic Planning work. As we progress over the next two months, our steering team will be working with consultants from Education Elements to draft and revise a plan. We look forward to sharing this work with our staff and community in the fall. Thank you to the more than 3,000 people (including this group of MCHS students shown here at a planning session) who have provided input so far during this process!
Visit http://educateMC.net/strategicplanning for updates along the way.

Help the Den Closet
A big thank you to Dick Bucher and the A. K. Smith Construction Class for creating a much-needed clothing rack for the "Den Closet" at MCHS. The Den Closet helps MCHS students each day by providing clothes, shoes, and personal items. They are currently seeking gently used or new MC Spirit Wear, sweatpants, shorts, hoodies, and t-shirts, and new socks are ALWAYS needed. Please drop off any donations to the main office at MCHS, attention Amy Wojo.
Transpo is a Winner!
Kudos to all of the drivers and monitors who represented us so well and brought home the impressive hardware. And special thanks to Jill Lomax, Leslie Bardusk, and the MCAS Mechanics who created props and organized this behind the scenes. There were many hours volunteered for this fun production.

When work is good, it provides us with a sense of purpose, belonging, achievement and self-esteem. Our working lives affect our mental health. Every minute spent on mental health at work benefits everyone, as well as the organization’s bottom line through employee productivity. Stress is unavoidable. How does it affect our health, and how can we learn to manage it effectively?
