Celebrating Week Three
July 3rd-7th
Big Blue Summer Staff Profile: Hollie Hopf - Aquatics
C - Curiousity- Hi-Tech Excitement
Image Representation was the topic of this week's Hi-Tech rotations for Big Blue Summer. Led by one of our summer partners, Zatna, our campers learned about how computers produce images on the screen, then used 3D imaging pens to create sunglasses, animals and flowers. The 3D imaging kept campers curious to possibilities.
O - Openness- Yoga with a Twist
Our campers opened their minds each week with a little bit of soul searching brought to us by Pingry’s own Trisha Wheeler. During Ms. Wheeler’s yoga sessions campers go beyond traditional yoga poses to unfold the many facets of the art. They are encouraged to connect not only with themselves and their peers but also with the nature around them. This week the connection centerpieces were flowers. Pulling in the energy of the blossoms, campers open themselves up to a moment of relaxation.
D - Dedication- Paul Revere Regatta
S.T.E.A.M. is a recurring speciality for Big Blue Summer, but this week campers put their designs to the test. Campers were challenged to create a vessel strong enough to cross the Pingry pool using only cardboard, duct tape, and garbage bags. Keeping the boat afloat was not enough to win this challenge - campers continued to raise the bar by sending a staff member across the pool in their creations. Through engineering and imagination campers accomplished what they sought out Monday to achieve.
E - Enthusiasm- Silent Disco
H - Honor- Literature with L.I.T.s
