Community Check-In
North Rockland Central School District
North Rockland Families:
Nothing could slow the Red Raiders down this week! Although it was a short week, our students and staff still accomplished so much.
I'm happy to say that our schools are all buzzing with constant learning, exploration and discovery. Part of the reason this year has been so successful is that we all are treating each other with empathy, care, compassion and respect. These qualities strengthen our school community.
The District was proud to hold our special Veterans day ceremonies, events and lessons. Tomorrow, Veterans Day, is Nationally the day set aside to thank and honor ALL who have served throughout history, but particularly the veterans among us and those in our local community. Let us pause this Veterans Day, for just a moment, to give thanks for the dedicated men and women who put their lives at risk so that we might continue to enjoy ours. If you know a vet, show your gratitude for their service this weekend.
Our drama, orchestra and band have all been relentlessly practicing and gearing up for tonight and tomorrows' performances of "And Then There Were None." Below you will find two new and innovative high-level education programs we have successfully launched - The NR PAES Lab and the Dual Language program. We are making strides, raising standards and expanding on our goals. It's quite an exciting time in North Rockland.
Starting this week the district will utilize Community Check-Ins in lieu of a traditional Update every other week as a way to keep our families and residents informed. The next Community Update will be released Friday, November 18.
North Rockland Field Hockey
North Rockland Field Hockey would love to humbly express our appreciation for the incredible response we received to our 2022 Military Tribute Fundraiser. Through the support of our community, we were able to make a donation of $1,500 to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation. A special shout-out to Barry Baloga and the Fleet Fundraising Team for their efforts and partnership along the way. Most importantly, thank you to our first responders, active and retired military and those that gave the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001. We are so thankful to be apart of such a supportive community! ❤️🤍💙
District Veterans Events
Thiells Elementary Honors Local Vets
In honor of Veteran’s Day, Thiells Elementary planned a special event. Students reached out to their relatives and friends to come help in their ceremony. In total, twelve Veterans showed up and together with students, they planted flags alongside each other. It was amazing to see different generations working together, as well as them making each other smile. A great time was had by all! Thanks all Veterans for their service through the link here!
North Rockland High School Veterans Day Ceremony
NRHS students joined together in honor and recognition of all our veterans and those currently in the service in a beautiful ceremony this morning. We Salute You!
Special thanks to our NJROTC Color and Honor Guard, NRHS Choir and Band, and the Rockland County Police Emerald Society Pipes & Drums Band for their performances NR Strong.
New District Programs
Dual Language Program
November is School Board Recognition Month at NRCSD!
To thank our Board of Education, we have produced a video series that spotlights several innovative initiatives that our BOE has been instrumental in developing.
Next up is North Rockland's New Dual Language Program.
The Dual Language Program’s enrichment provides our students grades K-6 the opportunity to learn academic content (Math, Science, Social Studies and English) while also learning to speak, read and write at a high academic level in Spanish. Students follow the same curriculum as their peers in the English instruction classroom with equal time spent learning both languages. More information linked here.
NR PAES Lab
The new NR PAES Lab is up and running!
Our PAES lab is a career training program for students in our Life Skills classes providing: Basic generalizable vocational and Life Skills that relate to most careers as well as skills needed for job training, placement and independent living.
Ms. Siddi’s class begin their PAES days by being transported from the High School to the NRHS Extension to simulate a realistic experience of having to travel to work each day (known as travel training). Every learner checks in and out for work each day at the lab via their own personalized badge. Read more.

Alexander 😻
""Alexander has been with us when he was only a few days old back in May of 2021. He came in with his mother Eliza after they were found outside in the Bronx. His mother is a beautiful black medium haired persian. Alexander very much takes after his mother. He loves head butts and being rubbed down. He is a little shy at first but once you start petting him he will open right up. Alexander was briefly adopted but had to be returned when the family was moving. He just wants a stable home where he can lay in the sun and sleep on your lap all day. If you are interested in adopting please fill out an application on our website Hitor.org."
