Note from Dr. Mullenschlader
You might remember there is an old Veggie Tales song that goes, "A thankful heart is a happy heart.." That simple line can be an easy way to teach our children about how to embrace the month of November. We are building the habit of gratitude this month and it fills our heart with joy. The joy flows out of our hearts in the form of happiness. Who does want to live a life of joy and happiness?
As we close out our first trimester, I am thankful for the work of our loving and caring teachers. They not only encouraged virtuous living in the students, they are modeling these habits, and building a culture of virtue. And this culture of virtue serves the mission of our school, embodying the words, "United by the Holy Spirit". This culture of joy and union with the Holy Spirit is a great gift from God. All praise and glory to God for this great gift!

Virtue of the Month - Gratitude
Gratitude is the thankful disposition of mind and heart.
Blessed Fr. Solanus Casey was a Capuchin friar who lived in Detroit, Michigan. He was a simple man who lived an incredible life of love for God. For many years, he served the Capuchins as a porter, opening and greeting people at the monastery door. Through these experiences God granted miracles through Fr. Solanus, including healing the sick and granting counsel to those in need. Fr. Solanus lived recently, and died in 1957. His story is remarkable, and even in the simple role of porter and he always gave Thanks to the Lord. He would say, "Thank God ahead of time".
Here is a prayer for the children to say at home: Dear Jesus, Please give me a thankful heart, realizing that all I have comes from You.
Scriptures for the month:
Tobit 13, Psalm 9:1, Psalm 50:23, and Psalm 118:28-29
Veteran's Day Celebration
We will be honoring the family members of students that are Veteran's on November 10. The celebration will begin with Mass at 8:00 am. We ask that the Veteran family members and the students (of the family members) sit up front at Mass. Following the Mass will be a Veteran speaker, a brief celebration of songs honoring them, and a simple breakfast in the Café for the Veteran and their student(s). The celebration should end by 10:00 am. We ask that only Veteran family members attend and not close friends of family. If you have a Veteran that will be attending with your student, please fill out this form by Friday, October 27. https://forms.gle/apm4tKPkat26F6DL7 . The Veteran will need to be at church around 7:50-7:55 to meet their student.
