Week Twelve is off to a great start! We welcomed Small Cohorts to campus for instruction (students needing technology support), Student-Athletes began conditioning, and we have a Halloween "Spooktacular" Drive-thru Trunk or Treat this Saturday Night.

Last week was Digital Citizenship Week, and I hope you were able to utilize the many resources and tips for student. One important reminder is to reset your password. Student's passwords must be reset by our staff. Click HERE if you would like your password reset.

Please click HERE for important changes to College Board's Advanced Placement (AP) testing for the 2020-2021 school year.

Highlights:

• Fall Exam payments due October 30, 2020 . . . THIS FRIDAY!
• 2021 AP Testing is scheduled for May 3 – May 14; late testing May 18 – May 21.
• Students set up/log in to their College Board account and register
• Students must use their personal emails
• Students should also use their legal name
• Students register for AP tests through AP Classroom
• There will be no cancellation fee . . . register!

Collegewise is a free series of college planning programs and resources, carefully structured to give students and parents the tips, tools, and timelines they need to reach their college goals.

Students and parents: We encourage seniors to sign up for the College Board Opportunity Scholarships program and start earning chances at scholarships. Students and parents can also take advantage of these resources this fall:

• View Collegeboard's recent webinar, Applying to College During a Pandemic, for seniors and their parents.

• Visit Collegeboard's Class of 2021 page for college planning resources in response to covid-19 to help your senior stay on track for college.

We encourage seniors to get ahead on the FAFSA® by visiting www.getfafsahelp.org to sign up early for Wyatt℠, a free FAFSA assistance chatbot that answers their questions by text.

The Girls' League Breast Cancer fundraiser is underway, and thus far we have raised over $800.

It is $10 to enter, and running, walking, or biking is optional. We just need your support!

We know these are trying times, but the fight against breast cancer goes on, and we are committed to being part of the cure.

This Friday we will have our Performing Arts Department is proud to offer a Drama & Dance Department Collaboration Showcase of student work called "A Grimm Retelling!" One night only at 7pm.

The show highlights students from intermediate and advanced drama/dance. Students created their own original works inspired by Brothers Grimm Tales, and they also edited their performances!

NCAA Eligibility Center

Attention Senior Student-Athletes:

If you plan on participating in college-level athletics at the NCAA Division I or II levels and are in contact with college coaches, you must be certified as an eligible athlete by the NCAA ELIGIBILITY CENTER.

*Register online at www.eligibilitycenter.org.

Mr. Patterson, our NCAA GLC, will be notified by the Eligibility Center once you have registered. At that time, your transcript will be sent to the Eligibility Center by Mr. Patterson. Only students in the Class of 2021 should register at this time.

PREPARATION FOR RETURN TO ATHLETICS

WVUSD is currently working on an action plan for student-athletes to return to campus in phases, following LA County/NFHS/CIF/State guidelines to ensure the safety of your child and family. Implementing this plan is based on our current COVID situation and LA County Health Department.

ATHLETICS CLEARANCE

In preparation for the possibility of athletics to commence, please ensure your child is athletically cleared. Student-athletes that are not cleared will not be able to participate in athletics. Specific athletic instruction can be found HERE.

Underclassmen make-up Yearbook photo day is next Friday, November 6. The photographers will be on campus to take pictures on Friday, 11/6 from 1:00 - 4:30 PM. This is only for underclassmen who have not had their picture taken. Underclassmen will need to make an appointment. We will be sending out more information about appointments soon. Thank you to everyone who already took your picture!

Dear Parents,

We are seeking your help to “Tell a Friend” about the opportunities to attend Walnut Valley Unified for the 2021/2022 school year. Walnut Valley will be hosting enrollment information meetings beginning this month to share information with prospective parents on how to enroll based on District of Choice, Inter-district Transfers, Allen Bill, or Caregiver applications.

Current families enrolled in Walnut Valley do not need to attend these meetings.
