HV Update 2-16-2024
A message from your principal, Mrs. Stager
We had quite the week here at HV! Random Acts of Kindness, a snow day, Valentine's Day, the 100th Day of School, and Science Fair - we really packed a lot into four days!
In looking to next week, it's a little quieter. School is closed on Monday, February 19th and we will see you back at HV on Tuesday.
Best,
Allison

Lead U Assembly
The Lead U Assembly scheduled for February 13th has been rescheduled to February 28th.
Snacks/Lunch/Stanleys
Snacks - The main office keeps a stash of extra snacks, compliments of the HSA. We do not have unlimited snacks and reserve them for days when someone forgets to pack one. All classes have a designated snack time during the day. Please pack a healthy snack for your children to have and remind them to not to throw away snacks they might not like or eat them at lunchtime. We will not be able to continue to provide snacks at the rate we have been going through them.
Lunch - The same goes for lunch. There have been instances where students have thrown their lunches away or asked the main office to make calls because they want something different. We do not want students not eating and it becomes difficult when students take it upon themselves to throw out their lunch. Please discuss lunch plans with your children so they understand they are to eat what has been packed or ordered.
Stanley/Water Bottles - We encourage students to bring water bottles to school to stay hydrated. Please only send water. If a Stanley tips over, the contents spill. Sugary drinks, soda, or hot beverages of any kind should not be sent into school. Thank you for your cooperation!
A Message from the Nurse......
February is Heart Health Month! We all want to see our kids grow and develop into healthy adults. Here are some tips to help make that happen:
1. Help your kids eat healthy and send healthy snacks to school.
2. Help your child be more physically active! Play silly games to get moving. Limiting screen time can help too!
3. Kids need plenty of sleep, 9-12 hours per night!
Don't miss this opportunity! A Community Optical Fair is happening in Morris County! Click here to view the flyer and register for an appointment to get an Eye Exam, Glasses, and Sunglasses too!
Regarding illness, please adhere to the following guidelines:
- Keep your child home if he/she does not feel well enough to participate in normal activities.
- Keep your child home until fever-free for 24 hours without the need to take fever-reducing medication.
- If nausea/vomiting- keep your child home until at least 24 hours after the last episode of vomiting.
- If your child has strep throat- keep your child home until at least 12 hours have passed since the start of antibiotic treatment and fever-free for 24 hours without the need to take fever-reducing medication.
- If your child is Covid-19 positive, keep home and call your school nurse for the latest guidelines.
- When reporting an absence, please report symptoms and any official diagnoses.
Enjoy the weekend and stay well!
