Bronco Bulletin August 11, 2023

August 11, 2023
A few Crews and Five Forks 8th graders take Latin at the high school every morning before heading to middle school. In Mrs. Allgood's class this week, they learned the geography of Italy by decorating sugar cookies, using chocolate chips for the mountains, a red-hot for the volcano Mt Vesuvius, and stars for important cities.
A Message from the Principal
Greetings Bronco Families!
I hope this message finds you and your loved ones doing well. My staff and I continue to be impressed with your students’ engagement and enthusiasm. During this week’s Bronco Time lesson, all were able to learn more about local school and district expectations for student conduct and our PBIS program focused on citizenship, advocacy, respect, and engagement. We encourage all families to visit our school’s website to review the Crews student handbook at home. It has important details regarding cell phones, dress code, attendance etc.
Middle school years can be both exciting and challenging. Please continue to check in with your child(ren) to see how they are adjusting to the school year. We want each and every student to have their best school year to date. To support your student’s success, remember to save the date for our Connected @ Crews Curriculum Night on August 24th.
- 6th Grade: 5:30-7:00pm
- 7th /8th Grade: 7:00-8:30pm
At this event, you will have a chance to get Connected @ Crews by following your child’s schedule and hearing more about the Crews way to support curricular and extra-curricular offerings. And if you have not done so, you will be able to connect with our PTSA at the event as well. Here is a link to their website- Crews MS PTSA. Also, if you are interested in being part of the 23-24 Local School Council, let us know by submitting your Local School Council Interest Form by 5pm on August 17th.
In service to others,
Principal Cindy MoffettEvents & Activities
CONNECTED @ CREWS NIGHT
Mark your calendars for our Connected @ Crews Night on Thursday, August 24th!

7th & 8th Grades: 7:00-8:30
ParentSquare
You've probably seen information from GCPS about our new communication system, ParentSquare. If you have not yet activated your account or you have questions, please check out GCPS' site at www.gcpsk12.org/Page/35909. You can find instructions for activating your account, customizing your notification settings, and more.
We did want to clarify a couple of things about ParentSquare. First, there is a ParentSquare app, but you do not have to download it if you do not want to. Using the app will give you quick access to the announcements, as well as the option of having push notifications, but you can also just use the web version of ParentSquare through your Parent Portal.
Second, ParentSquare gives you the opportunity to customize how and when you receive your notifications. You can choose whether you would prefer instant (as soon as the message is posted) or digest (a compilation of all messages sent through ParentSquare that day) for email, text, and app notifications. You can choose a different setting for text, email, and app notifications. For example, you can set email to digest, texts to instant, and app notifications to off, if you prefer. Be aware that the digest option begins to send at 6:00 pm, so you will receive all messages together typically between 6:00 and 7:00 pm. The default setting for parents is digest, so you will need to go in and change this if you would prefer instant. Emergency/time sensitive messages will still be sent instantly, regardless of settings.
