New Field Weekly Updates
Week 13: November 13-17, 2023
Dear New Field families,
This week marks the halfway point of the second quarter and on Friday, November 17 you will receive your child's second quarter progress report. Our students are deeply engaged in new learning, and one exciting program we've just launched, for students in grades 3&4 is Success Bound. Success Bound aims to help students explore who they are and who they want to be in the future, by connecting their interests and identities to academic empowerment, social emotional learning and post secondary exploration.
Our school counselor, Ms. Claire Kunkel, and our technology teacher, Mr. Cody McLaurine are leading weekly lessons for our upper grade students. Students will explore why it is important to come to school on time everyday, the concept of grades in elementary school, how to create, implement and monitor goal statements. They will also explore their interests, identities and personalities and, in fourth grade, how these can connect to different career options. The holistic development of all of our students is part of our school mission, where all students become independent, lifelong learners and socially responsible citizens. Students across PK-Fourth grade are engaged in daily socio-emotional learning through the Second Step curriculum, aligned, Tier 1 strategies for self-regulation and daily tasks activities aligned with character development. Click here to learn more about our research-based second step curriculum and click here to learn how you can utilize self-regulation strategies, like a break space, at home.
Warmly,
Mrs. Conrey Callahan
