Best Buddies Friendsgiving
Our Best Buddies program at Steele had a Friendsgivings! Students and staff enjoyed a delicious meal together, giving thanks for this awesome program and the friendships that have been made.
Class of 2024
The Marion L. Steele High School Class of 2024 plans to hold its Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 25th at Cleveland State University’s Wolstein Center. Doors will open at 9:00 am and the ceremony will begin promptly at 10:00 am.

Class of 2024 Senior Yearbook Information/Updates
- As a reminder, if you took a senior portrait with Studio Q at Steele on Oct 19th or November 8th, you must choose the pose you want in the yearbook. If you took a picture and you do not select a pose, a pose will be selected for you. Email info@studioqinc.com if you have any questions about choosing a pose or lost your order form. If you did not get a senior portrait taken with Studio Q, you will not be in the yearbook. Please make sure to take advantage of his last chance retake day on Wednesday, December 20 at Studio Q's studio in downtown Amherst from 9:00am to 4:00pm. Below is the link to reserve your spot, you have to pay the $20 sitting fee before it locks in your appointment time. If you order prints, the $20 will go towards your order. - Baby, kid or toddler pictures are due by December 19th, please make sure to get those emailed to Mr. Rubinski at brian_rubinski@amherstk12.org or give a physical copy to Mr. Rubinski in Room 318.
- If you did not sign an index card at the October 19th Studio Q session, then make sure to sign the blank side of a card and print your name on the lined side and turn it into Mr. Rubinski in Room 318.
- Senior recognition ads and yearbooks are still on sale. You can order by going to Jostens.com, searching Marion L. Steele High School and it will take you to a page for everything Jostens at Steele. You design and buy your senior recognition ads online and Jostens puts them in the yearbook a couple weeks later. Feel free to confirm with Mr. Rubinski that your ad made it in the yearbook by emailing him.

If any student has questions about CCP or is still interested in signing up for CCP classes for the second semester, please see/email your school counselor before we head into winter break.

Upcoming College and Military Visits
All college visits will be at 9:15am and students can register for college rep visits via Naviance:
1. Go to https://launchpad.classlink.com/amherstk12, and log in using your Amherst school credentials 2. Click on the Naviance App 3. Once in the Naviance Homepage, scroll to the What's New section, and register for any visits you are interested in!
FAFSA Workshop, Exclusive Private Tutoring
Exclusive Private Tutoring is inviting Steele parents to attend a virtual FAFSA workshop on Saturday, December 16th, 1-2:30 pm. The workshop will be especially helpful to current seniors and their parents. The workshop is free but registration is required.

Department News: Social Studies Department
Many student volunteers went to Patriot Park to watch the Veteran's Day ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 11th at the military mural in uptown Amherst. Student volunteers distributed programs and poppies. More students volunteered at the VFW to serve tables at the luncheon for the veterans.
A Veterans Day Salute with Thank You for Serving Banner and over 110+ stories from veterans in the form of a collage displayed at Marion L. Steele front commons lobby area. The impressive display was featured on Steele News Live and teachers in the school were encouraged to take their classes to see the salutes. Over 75 Old Glory flags were placed within the hallways at most of the classroom doorways as well.
Volunteer Opportunities
The next student volunteer opportunity pertains to the big task of distributing Honor Wreaths at local cemeteries on Dec. 9th.
The Dec. 9th ceremonies at the cemeteries will be as follows:
10:00 am - Elmwood and Middle Ridge
10:30 am - Calvary and Cleveland St.
11:00 am - Ridge Hill and St. Joseph
11:30 am - Crownhill and Kendeigh
Student volunteers can start by volunteering to put bows on wreaths on November 29 at 4:00 at 5300 Baumhart Road, Lorain, OH 44053.

End of Second Grading Period
As a reminder, the second grading period ends before the holiday break. Finish strong! We will have an eligibility check point at the end of this grading period. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your grades, please see Mr. Wolf or contact him via email at casey_wolf@amherstk12.org.
