Key News for Families
July 30, 2020
Return to School Information
At this time, we can release our initial plans for starting our 2020-21 school year.
As a reminder, families can also view our virtual learning option details on the Pandemic Information page of the district website.
Families choosing the virtual learning option for their child should do so by completing the Infinite Campus Parent Portal Annual Update by August 10. Families who do not select the virtual learning option will automatically be enrolled into their regular schools. Information about completing this was sent on July 14. Click here to review that information.
Please remember that schedules will be available no earlier than Monday, August 17, in Infinite Campus this year to allow us to finalize as many student registrations as possible.
More information about mitigation and safety measures for our four-year old kindergarten program will be released soon.
Mask and Face Covering Details
With School Board approval, all students and staff will be required to wear face coverings when social distancing cannot be maintained.
Please note these details were created prior to Governor Evers issuing an executive order earlier today requiring residents to wear face masks when indoors away from one's private residence. We will review his executive order and have more information forthcoming.
- Masks will be required indoors when social distancing cannot be maintained
- Teachers will create multiple mask breaks each day for our students
- Our younger students will have more flexibility for mask breaks during the day, including no masks required during recess
- Physical barriers will be used in classrooms when possible to reduce the need for masks
- Students will not be punished for forgetting or losing their masks; each school will have a stockpile of masks to provide students who forget or lose their masks
- Alternative options will be considered for students with disabilities or diagnosed medical conditions
COVID-19 is a communicable disease. As we do with other communicable diseases like rotavirus, pertussis, and influenza, we rely on the guidance of the Waukesha County Health Department which has issued these guidelines. Further, we have reviewed guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the American Academy of Pediatrics regarding the use of face coverings.
Elementary Open Houses and Supply Drop-Off Information
Open House remains scheduled for Thursday, August 27, from 5:00 - 7:00 pm but will be for kindergarten and new families only. Families attending should plan on bringing your child's school supplies and any school day medications. Families with the last name A-M may attend from 5:00 - 6:00 pm and families with the last name N-Z may attend from 6:00 - 7:00 pm. Only enrolled children and parents/guardians may attend this year and masks will be required.
To allow our families to drop off their child's school supplies, two Supply Drop-Off Days have been established this year. On Monday, August 24, from 12:00 - 6:00 pm and on Friday, August 28, from 8:00 am - 3:00 pm, enrolled children and their parents/guardians may drop off their supplies in their labeled cubby area or locker. Masks will be required to enter the building. Student medications can also be dropped off during these times. Please be aware that teachers will not be available during our Supply Drop-Off Days.
