A Prayer for the Virtue of Respect
I genuflect before You Honorable Jesus, Respecting Your Will, Plan and Judgment!
You overcame earthly evil temptations, Maintaining Self-respect to the end.
Jesus, You are my code of conduct; I strive to comply with Your precepts.
Teach me all I need to know about respect, Its mastery being my long-term objective.
May this include learning to listen, Allowing others to share their opinions.
May my respect towards other humans Truly reflect Your love towards all!
Amen

STOPR Bus Cancellation Information
Inclement Weather Bus Cancellations-Teaching and Learning Expectations
For student transportation purposes, Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon (Peel Region), which are served by Student Transportation of Peel Region (STOPR), are divided into three zones, ZONE 1, ZONE 2 and ZONE 3. We are ZONE 1
In pre-pandemic times, a bus cancellation would generally only affect students who took the bus to school. The school remained open, and classes/cohorts would be combined.
In our current COVID environment, we try our best to not mix classes/cohorts. Therefore, if school buses are cancelled in a specific zone or in multiple zones, ALL schools in that zone will switch to remote learning for the day and the school will be closed.
The STOPR website is www.stopr.ca This website provides access to up-to-date information regarding delayed buses and bus cancellations. Parents must have their child's OEN in order to obtain transportation information.
Please see the attached pdf for information about Bus cancellations due to Covid-19 public health Isolation requirements.
Inclement Weather Information
As the weather continues to remain cold parents are reminded that children need to dress appropriately. We recognize that temperatures can change throughout the day and suggest that children come dressed in layers. Parents are encouraged to send an extra change of clothing for younger students. Students are always encouraged to wear appropriate clothing for outdoor play, such as hats, mitts, snow pants and boots.
During the winter season, many parents are concerned about school policy for outdoor recess. It is generally accepted that when the wind chill factor drops below –25◦C, students should not go outside for recess. Dufferin-Peel C.D.S.B. policy uses a wind chill of –21◦C as the determining temperature for modified recesses. At Divine Mercy School, students will remain inside when the wind chill is reported at –25◦C or lower and we will modify the duration of lunch recess when the temperature reaches –21◦C. As always, ensure your child is prepared for the extremes of Canadian weather.

Covid-19 Updates
RECESS/LUNCH ROUTINES
With the winter weather now here and snowy conditions on the yard and field, we have revised our recess and lunch hour routines in order to accommodate students on the pavement, in the event that the field needs closed due to icy/muddy conditions. In order to provide a safe and adequate play space for students during the recesses, half of the classes go outside for either a morning recess or an afternoon recess. In order that students continue to have two outside breaks, classroom teachers have been encouraged to take their students outside for an additional break each day. During the lunch hour, students are outside for thirty minutes for either the first block of the lunch recess or the second block of the lunch recess. By dividing the outdoor time in half, we have been able to accommodate all students on the pavement, in the event that the field is closed.
Student Arrival and Punctuality
Students often miss 10 to 15 minutes of the same subject every day when late.
Supervision at Divine Mercy begins at the school at 8:15 a.m.
Students will not be gathering in the school yard.
School Begins: 8:30 am - Free Entry Between 8:15-8:30
Free Entry - Students are asked to go directly to their assigned entry doors and proceed directly to their classroom between 8:15 and 8:30 a.m.
What is considered late?
Your child does not enter the school by 8:30am
Please note that waiting until the bell and then dropping your child off at the front door is unacceptable and unsafe, as students are entering the building alone and unsupervised.

Pink Shirt Day February 23, 2022
Pink Shirt Day is celebrated on the last Wednesday of February each
year. Pink shirts are worn to signify taking a stand against bullying,
homophobia and transphobia. The origin of Pink Shirt Day was
established in 2007 to recognize the experience of a student in
Nova Scotia who was bullied for wearing a pink shirt. This day
commemorates the pursuit to combat bullying and all other forms of
oppression. The Catholic Social Teaching of Solidarity, and Dignity of
the Human Person requires that we learn from, and about the lived
experiences of those within our community.
