Maple Marquee
August 19, 2022
Welcome to the new Maple Marquee
The Maple Marquee has a new look for the 2022-23 school year. New features include the ability to translate into dozens of languages, to adjust font size and contrast for accessibility (just use the tool bar at top), and it offers responsive design. You will still be getting the same great information that you have come to expect. We look forward to a great school year!
Welcome Back Maple Mustangs
The first week of school is in the books, and we are off to an incredible start! The students are smiling and energized, and our staff is simply the best there is. Our classrooms and hallways are filled with energy and enthusiasm for learning. Thank you all for your support with new procedures and helping your student acclimate to a new school year.
Please be sure to read through our weekly Friday Maple Marquee, as we strive to provide all the activities and happenings here at Maple School.

Make Sure Your Health Forms are Up-To-Date
Sixth-graders and students new to Maple are required to provide the school with a health exam, which was completed within one year prior to the first day of school. Students new to Illinois will need to hand in a completed eye exam. Sixth-graders must also provide the school with a dental exam form or waiver. All forms are available on the Maple website at District 30 Health Forms. If your child will be participating in Maple athletics, it is required that your student have a health exam that was completed within one year prior to the last game of the season on file in the health office.
Before any medication can be dispensed, the school must receive written instructions and a signed permission form from the student’s physician and parent. All medications must be properly labeled and kept in the Health Office. Parental permission must also be obtained for non-prescription medication. Please contact the Health Office at 847-400-8908 if you have questions.
Fall Picture Day is Tuesday, August 30
This year, District 30 has contracted Stuart Rodgers Photography for all student photos. Maple fall picture day will be Tuesday, August 30, and retakes will be scheduled on Tuesday, October 11. After the images are taken, parents will receive an email to the gallery for purchases.
Uniforms and Changing for P.E.
Students will not need P.E. uniforms or be asked to change for P.E. during the 2022-23 school year. We have not changed clothes for P.E. for the previous two years of schooling, and we have found that students feel more comfortable in class and more time is allotted for the activities and learning. If your student has concerns about this practice, please feel free to reach out to Maple School, and we will partner to ensure that they are cared for.

Important changes for student pickup at Maple School!
This school year, this is now a new student pick-up procedure in effect. These changes will remedy the high traffic levels forming on Sherman Drive that cause backups and potential safety hazards. To address the traffic problems, a thorough study by a third party traffic engineer, Kimley Horn, was conducted, and a new traffic drop-off pattern was recommended. The only vehicle entrance into Maple School after 3:00 p.m. is now off of Shermer Road. Please watch the video and reference the maps below that details the new traffic pattern so that we can all be prepared for a
smooth pick-up each day.
Student drop-off procedures remain unchanged from last year. Students may be dropped-off along the curb on the north side or east side of the Maple School building. There is NO student drop-off on Sherman Drive or at the GBN parking lot. After drop-off, parents should continue and exit onto Sherman Drive or Shermer Road. Students may enter the building through Maple’s Main Entrance (north side) or the Activity Entrance (east side).
Please remember, during the school year students will not be permitted to enter the building until
8:05 a.m. unless they are attending a Band, Orchestra, or Choir rehearsal, or they have a scheduled
meeting with a teacher. After drop-off, music students should proceed to their classrooms, while all
other students should proceed directly to the Cafetorium.
Thank you for understanding that these changes to our pick-up procedures are in response to
unsafe and undesirable traffic on Sherman Drive. Patience is a key component to a safe and
efficient pick-up and drop-off experience. We appreciate your cooperation as we acclimate to
this new procedure and your kindness toward our custodians and staff who are assisting with the
traffic flow.
