Randall HS Fine Arts Happenings

We have had an amazingly busy and productive fall in the Randall Fine Arts Department. Take a moment to congratulate these students and teachers on a job well done in fall 2021!!

On Saturday, Oct 2nd 18 RHS Art Club Teams participated in TPAEA Art in the Park sidewalk chalk competition at MediPark. Our teams worked tirelessly for over 4 hours to create original designs on their allotted spot of concrete. Hunter Lee, a senior who stepped in at the last minute won FIRST PLACE in the high school division and defended our streak of Randall wins for this competition! Hunter also won $100 and the highly coveted graffiti duck trophy. Junior Miana Bagavac walked away with $50 and the 2nd place prize for her cool and creepy design of a distorted face. All our teams did incredible artwork and had a really fun time despite being covered from head to toe in sidewalk chalk. Be sure to congratulate our winners if you see them and make plans to come cheer them on next year!

We are proud to announce THREE of our Randall High School artists won $100 in the 8th annual Window on a Wider World Student Art Show.

32 of our RHS Art students were selected for the Texas Panhandle Art Education Association Winter Juried Show. These students were selected out of hundreds of entries from across Region 16 to represent the best of the best!

TPAEA Winter Juried Show, and out of hundreds of entries from all over Region 16 we had TWO Randall artists who won Best of Show cash awards!! Please congratulate juniors Janie Castillo and Graceson Carthel for their wins! Additionally, we had several students who sold their artwork - this is so exciting for them to be able to sell their work in a gallery and make money from their skills and talent. Thank you all for your continued support of our visual art program!!

Each year, RHS Art students enter their artwork in a statewide competition, the Visual Art Scholastic Event, or VASE. The contest starts at the Regional level here in Amarillo and then advances to Area and State levels of competition. Last year, Randall had over 60 students compete in this event, with several moving up to the Area and State level. Our Art students are starting on their VASE pieces and we can't wait to show you what they create!

The RHS Choirs performed their first concert of the year on Oct. 4th and featured all three performing ensembles. They also held their Christmas Concert on December 15th which was filled with glorious music and our traditional finale piece conducted by Davis Blaser.

18 RHS Choir Students were named to the All-District Choir and advanced to the next round of auditions held in November. Congratulations to these Raiders!!!:

After the November Auditions Randall qualified 15 students to advance to Area! This is amazing! Congrats to these students:

Our Randall High School Marching band qualified for the UIL State Marching Contest held in November. This is the first time that the band has "made it to state" since 2003! What a wonderful opportunity for our students and directors to be able to compete at this level.

The Randall Band students had a record 69 students qualify for the TMEA Region 1 All Region Bands. Of those 69, 47 students moved on to the Area round held in Odessa on January 8th.

The Winter band concert showcased all three performing groups and highlighted our trumpet ensemble. It was a great evening of music and fellowship. The final piece, Sleigh Ride was conducted by our very own Anay Patel, senior percussionist.

Theatre Production students Opened the new Blackbox Theatre with sold-out performances for the World Premiere of "Book of Dog" by Jiggs Burgess.

Randall High School theater put on 4 amazing performances of Beauty and the Beast. There were students involved from band, art, choir, and theater. Thanks to everyone who came out to the show and supported this awesome cast and crew!
