Lydia Rippey Elementary School
From the Principal
Dear LRES Families,
I can't believe it's October already! It feels just like yesterday we were welcoming our eager students back to school, and know we find ourselves fully immersed in the enchanting season of autumn. As the leaves begin to change, and the air becomes crisp, October brings in a sense of excitement and anticipation. I want to share some exciting news and updates from our Lydia Rippey community.
First and foremost, a huge congratulations to the staff, students, and families of Lydia Rippey. A couple of weeks ago, it was announced that Lydia Rippey is a National Blue Ribbon School. This is the first ever Blue Ribbon school that the Aztec School District has received! It is truly an honor to see the staff, students, and families work together for such an exciting and meaningful award. I knew I was coming in to a an amazing school, but now the nation know it!! Stay tuned.. there are some big things on the horizon to celebrate this monumental achievement!!
An exciting look into the future, brings the creation/resurrection of a PTO (Parent Teacher Organization). This is a chance for ideas to better our amazing school, provide opportunities for family and community engagement, and fundraising efforts to support our school and community. Look for more information deeper into this newsletter for information on how to help and what the future looks like for our PTO.
On the academic front, out students are doing great things. Our teachers and students are settling into their routines and diving deep into knowledge and learning. It is enjoyable to watch students ask questions, develop skills and passions.
October is also National Bullying Prevention Month and we take this opportunity to reinforce the importance of kindness, empathy, and respect within our entire school community. Together we can create and environment where every student feels inspired, safe, and fulfilled.
As partners in your childs education, we invite you to participte in our Parent Teacehr Conferences on the evening of Thursday, October 19 from 1:30-7:00 pm and the morning of Friday, October 20 from 8:00-11:45. These conferences offer valuable insights into your child's progress and are an excellent opportunity to collaborate with teachers to ensure your child's success.
I look forward to sharing more exciting updates with you in the coming months. Wishing you all a happy and productive October! Mrs. Nelson

Bus Lane
Please do not use the bus lane for pickup or drop offs. Unfortunately this is blocking cars trying to go through. Please use parking spots if you need to park.
School Lunch
The school menu for breakfast and lunch is posted on the BISD website. While the cafeteria staff carefully plans every menu, sometimes delivery issues may cause a slight change in menu items.
Parents are permitted to eat lunch with their students. After signing in at the front office, parents may proceed to the cafeteria. Student lunch times are 30 minutes long and class schedules are:
11:20-12:00- Kinder Lunch/Recess
11:35-12:10- 2nd Grade Lunch/ Recess
11:45-12:20- 1st Grade Lunch/ Recess
11:55-12:30 3rd Grade Lunch/ Recess
Field Trips
It is field trip time:
Grade levels are starting to go on adventures. A few reminders as we get into field trips: In order for parents to attend the field trip with students, you must have an approved Volunteer packet completed through the Central Office. This requires roughly 5 days of leeway time for the form to be completed through all channels. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call the office for support.
If you would like to sign out your child at the field trip, please sign out your child with the teacher.
