Geared towards ensuring kindergarten readiness for our little learners, this tuition-free program is designed to boost academic, social, language, and fine motor skills. It will be a five-day-a-week program that serves as a bridge between preschool and typical kindergarten. These classrooms will be for students born between July 1, 2019-December 1, 2019.
Enrollment for our new Young 5's Program will open January 2024. We have posted several helpful documents on our Young 5's website including Frequently Asked Questions, Early Learners Program Comparison, and Kindergarten Readiness.

HOLIDAY COOKIE EXCHANGE FOR SILVER SPRINGS STAFF
The annual Holiday Cookie Exchange for Staff, hosted by the PTA, is Tuesday, December 19th! Our staff LOVES this yearly tradition, and it is made possible by the generous hearts of our Silver Springs families!
We need 25 volunteers. Each volunteer brings 2 dozen baked goods – any type of cookies, brownies, bars, or other single-serving treats are wonderful. Homemade is preferred, but store bought or bakery treats are welcome too!
Please sign up by Friday, December 8th on the Sign Up Genius.
Please note the type of treat you plan to bring in the comment section.
Please provide treats on a covered tray or container and include a label of the type of cookie.
***Please deliver fresh cookies to the Silver Springs office between 8:30am-4:00pm on Monday, December 18th. ***
On December 19th, PTA volunteers will set up a lovely buffet, complete with to-go containers, so that staff may choose their favorites and take home a big selection of treats for the holidays!
Questions? Contact Kathy Chalhoub kathyjsaba@gmail.com or silverspringspta@gmail.com
STAFF FAVORITE THINGS LIST – BROUGHT TO YOU BY THE PTA!
Teachers often say their favorite gift is a handwritten note from the student! However, if you would like to do something more at the holidays, thank them during Teacher Appreciation Week, surprise them with something fun, or just get to know them better, check out the Staff Favorite Things List.
Of course, no obligation! Gifts to teachers are never expected, but any gift is always appreciated. This list is just another way the PTA loves linking families with our amazing staff.
SILVER SPRINGS DIRECTORY
This awesome little book, produced by the PTA, helps to forge friendships and make connections outside of school.
The directory comes in two formats:
1. A print edition – Every Silver Springs household will receive one FREE copy. You do not have to be a PTA member – all families will get one! The print copy of the directory will be sent home with your student during the week of December 18th (if you have more than one student, your oldest child will receive the directory to bring home).
2. An electronic edition – READY NOW FOR PTA MEMBERS!!!! The e-version is in a searchable PDF format and posted on the password-protected PTA member portal. Access to the online version is a perk of PTA membership! To view the directory, visit www.silverspringspta.com, click on the “Directory” button, and log in to Givebacks (formerly Memberhub).
THANK YOU to Charlene Chu, the PTA chairperson of the directory project, and to Mya Struthers for the beautiful cover illustrations.
THANK YOU to our generous local businesses who sponsored ads in the directory and funded 75% of the total cost, offsetting PTA funds.

BIRTHDAY LUNCHES - Deadline for January is December 8th
The Birthday Lunch program is a fun way to celebrate your child’s special day and the funds raised from this program directly benefit PTA programs. Win-win!
On your child’s day, you can come and join them for lunch! Some parents choose to bring a special lunch or a treat. You get to sit at the Birthday Lunch table near the MPR, which will be decorated with a festive tablecloth and birthday napkins.
The deadline to book a birthday lunch in the month of December is Friday, December 8th!!!
Book now to get your spot, even if your requested date is later in the year. The schedule fills up fast! Last year, we had 140 birthday lunches over the year!
The easiest way to sign up and donate is online.
Please sign up for this program with at least two weeks advance notice.
Also, if you need to cancel due to illness, etc., please notify Kate Rundell at silverspringspta@gmail.com. Our volunteers arrange their schedule to be there and it’s very frustrating to have a no-show.

Don’t Scrap the App!
The Michigan School Meals program supplements the National School Lunch Program and the School Breakfast Program, meaning that parents of students who would otherwise be eligible for free or reduced meals should continue to submit applications for free or reduced meals for their students. Even though meals will be free this year, it is vitally important that parents who meet, or believe they may meet, the free and reduced income guidelines, submit an application to ensure maximum benefits for their students and the District.
Some of these benefits include: athletics and activities discounts for student fees associated with participating in athletics and activities programs, SAT/ACT/AP test discounts for academic testing, college application discounts for college application fees, discounted internet access services, federal/state/local school funding for school budgets, Summer EBT.
Make sure to fill yours out today https://links.northvilleschools.org/1a
