Neighborhood Watch Meeting
A Neighborhood Watch training meeting was held at our Clubhouse on Monday, January 30th. There were 20 people in attendance on this cold night.
The next training will be held in-person on Monday, April 24, 2023 beginning at 6:30 pm at the Columbia Public Library. Pre-Register if you plan to attend at https://www.columbianeighborhoodwatch.org/training-pre-registration/
It should be noted that 50% or more of your block's homeowners must get this one-hour training to have your Neighborhood Watch approved and get your street sign.
Streets that have a Neighborhood Watch established have on average a 90% reduction in crime versus those that do not. It is a good way to get to know your neighbors on your block as well!
It Takes a Village!
While CAM and the Board members drive and walk through the subdivision, we are not always aware of items that need to be addressed. We encourage you to report lights out, common area sprinkler heads that are not aimed properly, suspected water leaks on common areas, malfunctioning locks on the Clubhouse, pool or tennis court or other items in the common spaces that do not seem to be operating properly.
Reports can be made to CAM by phone at (573) 499-4445, via email at info@camcolumbia.com or by visiting the "Contact CAM" page on the community website. Items involving the irrigation and/or water leaks are time sensitive to avoid unnecessarily high water charges.
2023 Annual Membership Meeting
Save the date for our upcoming 2023 Annual Membership Meeting. The meeting will be held on April 20, 2023 beginning at 6 pm at the Thornbrook Clubhouse.
WEBSITE
Find Thornbrook online at www.thornbrookcolumbia.com! The Covenants, Architectural Control Application Form, and calendar are all available. Please take a few moments to “Register” with the website (top right-hand corner of the Home page) to get updated emailed information from the association.
ACC Reminder
The Covenants require the Architectural Control Committee (ACC) to review and give their written approval for homeowner’s planned exterior projects before any work is started. Failure to get approval prior to commencing a project could result in removal of such at the expense of the owner and/or legal action. Please help avoid this possibility; if in doubt, contact CAM for the required ACC form and procedure before beginning any exterior projects. Be safe rather than sorry; if you are ever unsure whether a project you are planning requires ACC approval, just ask!

Board Meeting Results
The board also quoted pricing for an awning to replace the aging pergola at the pool/clubhouse. After reviewing the bid, discussing ongoing maintenance of an awning, the board decided to make the needed repairs to the existing pergola and not install an awning or shades at this time.
The clubhouse couches are showing significant signs of wear and tear. The Board and CAM are aware of the current (and worsening) condition, and CAM has been requested to locate new furniture for the Board to review/approve.
The Board is also reviewing proposals for replacing the water feature immediately in front of the pool entrance gate. The feature does not work properly and water from the operation of the feature can create a slipping hazard in the high traffic area. We anticipate having this approved and completed prior to opening the swimming pool for the 2023 season.
