The rescheduled Coffee with the Principal will take place on Monday, September 18th from 5:00-5:50 p.m. Parents can attend in person in the school library or online via the zoom link. This week is the first full week of Hispanic Heritage Month. Remind students that they can look for information about the contributions of Hispanic people and Hispanic Heritage facts on Google Classroom, posters placed around the school and in the morning announcements. Let's encourage our students to learn about the diverse latin cultures and how the beauty of those cultures enrich our own. Each week in the newsletter, I will post a video celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month. Please feel free to share the video.
In other news, our school received a platinum level recognition for our school wide implementation of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS). This means that we implement practices into our schoolwide systems aimed at establishing a positive school culture and supporting individualized behavior necessary to create a safe and effective learning environment for all of our students. The goal of PBIS is not to create a utopian school society, but to include our students in the daily goal to make our school one where everyone feels honored, respected and valued. It is to make BJH a school that supports each other in both good times and challenging times where the staff realize that all students have a story and that story impacts the way they learn and behave. PBIS has four (4) levels of recognition which are bronze, silver, gold and platinum. The Tiered Fidelity Inventory (TFI) is a questionnaire that assesses how closely school staff applies the core features of PBIS. The results of our TFI indicated we have maintained a Platinum status. Way to go Bobcats!

- The Brea Junior High School PTA is having open enrollment for PTA. Please support BJH by joining the PTA. Click HERE to join. Homeroom classes with the highest percentage of membership by October 6th will receive a donut party
